Hello to all! This Method is for Windows users.
Here is a nicely made package containing the following:
-Easy to follow Tutorial to Unlock your iPhone
-All files needed to Unlock your iPhone (wInstaller, iBrickr, PACAY, 'anySIM-1.01.pxl')
Here is a link to the .zip package: http://www.sendspace.com/file/nw55nv
(Updated to anySIM 1.02 and to address restoring issues)
Just download, extract to a folder on your computer, open the folder and read 'InstructionsREADMEFIRST.doc'
If you want to have a look at the tutorial only, I've got it uploaded using Google Documents here: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dhq2b8r7_17gvw9s3
Have fun! Make the iPhone worthwhile!
EDIT: Make some mirrors if you can, and if you are happy with this package, DIGG IT! (http://digg.com/apple/Easy_iPhone_unlock_package_using_anySIM)

I tried on two different computers, from several file locations, and didn't get that error. Sorry I have no suggestions.
EDIT: Maybe it didn't extract properly? Currently trying out the download and testing.
EDIT2: Downloaded the .zip myself and extracted to my desktop, and iBrickr worked fine.

The version of iTunes should not matter because none of the actual unlocking is done through the iTunes program. I would recommend getting the latest version if possible.
And yes you have to restore your iPhone to Firmware version 1.0.2. If you follow the tutorial exactly then you shouldn't have any problems.
If any changes occur, as in Firmware realeases or maybe a new release of anySIM, I'll update the package!
Thanks for the questions guys, you make other peoples lives easier

From the top of my head, I don't think you don't. All the communication from the iPhone to the PC is done through the USB cable.

Might be another stupid question.... sorry quite new to this:
I'm not getting the phone til next week and I am afraid it will load with the new 1.11 firmware. If that's the case, when the iPhone is restoring, can we just select a 1.02 firmware file to "downgrade" it?
Thank You

iTunes has the ability to restore from a chosen Firmware file. Just download the 1.02 firmware of a forum or something, and restore your iPhone from the downloaded file.
I'll post some more information here on how to do it.
EDIT: Here is a link to the 1.02 restore file: http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPhone/061-3823.20070821.vormd/iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.ipsw

In the last part, you said to run activate.bat again.
This is only if youtube does not work, right?
If youtube "somehow" does work after instally anySIM, i wouldn't need to run activate.bat again?
And how come i see people talking about how you need to install "lockdwn" after you install anySIM.
So your guide skips this as this is no use with we use activate.bat.
I assume activate.bat does what "lockdwn" does.
Thanks again!

Yeah '(Click here) active.bat' is a script that does all the activation for you. You don't need to worry about lockdwn.
You need to run it after using anySIM as stated in the tutorial. As long as you follow the tutorial step by step, nothing should go wrong.
Hope that helps!

Um I don't actually have an iPhone. I live in New Zealand and are currently saving up to get one shipped out here.
I just have done alot of reading and understand more or less how the process works. All I have done is tried to make the process easier for others so they can have the freedom of owning an unlocked iPhone.

From memory, you have to run 'activate.bat' near the end to reactivate YouTube, and there is another reason but I have forgotten it...

2 - And is wiNstaller better than ibrickr to jailbreak?
3 - Dont you have to press return to jail after finishing the proccess? Is there any problem to leve it jailbreaked?

Just follow the steps EXACTLY and nothing will go wrong. If you decide to skip something or use a different way of doing something, then I can't guarantee that you will get a successful unlock.
About iunlock.pxl vs. anySim.pxl ... There's not too much difference, just as long as you follow the given instructions/tutorial accurately, then everything will go smoothly.
Hope that's what you wanted to hear.

Yes everything is working with this method.

Yeah i understand that. The only thin i was asking is that when everything is done. You got the unlocked iphone, then you return it to jail. The opposite of jailbreaking.
Just one more question. Have you changed sim card with iphone on?Or everytime you changed you turned it of?
But anyway. Excellent guide.

No you do not have to return to jail or whatever.
You can change the SIM card while the iPhone is on yes. Some people have preferences in turning the phone off before changing SIM's, but whatever you feel safe with.
The only time you have to turn the phone off before changing SIM's is during the unlock process.
Hope that helps

Totally agree.
To be honest, after running AnySim, i took out the AT&T card and put in my own SIM without powering off, and my network was not detected. Then following the next steps(power off, power on again, run activate.bat again, etc...) and viola, network detected!

if iPhone cames with version 1.0.2 (and you could see it in emergency call *3001#12345#* and confirm version 03.14.08_G), is iTunes still necessary?
I've got doen to step 11 in the tutorial enclosed with the DIGG download and AnySim has appeared to hang on the licence screen after I "slid to unlock". Is there anything I have to do or can check to find out why it's stopped there?
One point to note is that all went exactly as expected until step 7, with me following the instructions on iBrickr to load the anySIM-1.01.pxl file at which point iBrickr says the phone will soft reset whereas the tutorial says the phone will lock itself. It locked itself so I turned it off and then on again then went to step 8.
Should I not have turned it off then on again?
Cheers
ANMH
I've got doen to step 11 in the tutorial enclosed with the DIGG download and AnySim has appeared to hang on the licence screen after I "slid to unlock". Is there anything I have to do or can check to find out why it's stopped there?
One point to note is that all went exactly as expected until step 7, with me following the instructions on iBrickr to load the anySIM-1.01.pxl file at which point iBrickr says the phone will soft reset whereas the tutorial says the phone will lock itself. It locked itself so I turned it off and then on again then went to step 8.
Should I not have turned it off then on again?
Cheers

Man do I feel like a dumbass now. I didn't realise you had to scroll down and click OK to unlock at the end of the licence because it didn't have a scrollbar at the side like Windows.

What version of iTunes works best with this method?
If so, where can we find this version?
(downloading from apple.com seems to be the latest version and i believe that one has some issues)
Thanks in advance

I am doomed! My unlock process didn't work. It says something about missing bytes. I tried to follow the 'virgin' steps to store it back to the original form and no luck so far. Any help would greatly appreciated.
Same this happend when i used the anySim application. First it said it was unsuccessful, unfortunately i didnt read the instructions all that carefully and ignored it, i decided to use the app again and it came out saying could not match bytes. Now trying to restore the phone completely and its not working either. Any ideas from the gusy using this unlock method? Can it be just done over or is a full virgin restore needed?

Okay i tried this guide .. worked perfectly - thank you .. even got my YouTube working!
A few things:
- I jailbroke even after using the current latest version of iTunes. I didnt install the older one that the guide said.
- AnySIM 1.0.2 will ask you to place the SIM card you want to use before it starts its procedure. I chose to ignore this and followed the guide by leaving the AT&T sim in there while it did its job. Afterwards - everything was fine - as the guide said - just replace the SIM afterwards.

This is the best way?

Keep the AT&T SIM card in until the guide says to replace it

You can try it, but I cannot guarantee that it will work

Reviewed the procedure and all posts - correct me if I am wrong, but this does not appear to apply to a OTB 1.1.1 - I say this because I did not notice anything about downgrading baseband. Could someone verify. All we need now is to update this tutorial to include baseband downgrade. Great Job...Thanks.

I'm also keen to know if we can use exactly the same steps as described in the guide for a virgin 1.1.1, but unlock with anySIM 1.1
