That's consistent with what I saw (in same boat - had sidekick and now using my unlocked iPhone) Unfortunately, at least going by what they told me when I called tmobile directly, you cannot use the sidekick plan for non-sidekick edge service. After cancelling the sidekick add-on and switching over to the Total internet add-on (19.99/month) I was good to go within an hour or so. Note - you can switch back to sidekick at any time and they pro-rate the services so that you're not penalized for trying and then coming back. Also note that some claim that they have had success with the 5.99 t-zones plan, so that is another possibility. Once switched over, I used the internet2.voicestream.com APN with empty user/pass.

Hope this helps clarify things!

I did this exact same thing. The Total Internet plan is rad for $19.99 a month. T-Mobile HotSpots are included! You can't complain. :)

the only reason why i didnt want to switch from the sidekick to the iphone was cause of the messengers... =/ is there a way around it to be able to have the messengers on the iphone?

Did you try changing your phone in their systems then checking plans? Also sometimes the plan can't fit and you have to click for the more descriptive list. I suggest selecting the tmobile dash or mda.

For the record...again... sidekick data is handled by the good folks over at danger... you have to have a sidekick for it to work.
