For anyone interested in the solution in general, refer to our older free tools source code. And now enjoy your phone. We hope the app will be up on some installer repro shortly for real easy usage.

If you have issues like unable to locate byte to patch, your phone was unlocked before, if you experince any other problems, be sure to have correct fw flashed, for skilled user try the guides with bbupdater on the forum to recover any error caused by bad previous attemps.

Q: Couldn't locate byte...
A: Your firmware is already patched or modified or at leas tnot apple default of the fls, try a restore with bbupdater

I have installed the anySIM.app to the applications folder, ensure the file is 755, run the app...

I get a lovely picture, but it doesn't seem to do anything - I can't Slide the slider to unlock... the screen pauses for about 30 seconds and returns me to the main menu.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Yea i'll be using XP too! Please let me know how to go about doing this. I just picked up a brand new spankin 4 gig and i'm ready to put this thing to use. I think you have to jailbreak it using ibrickr and then upload the pxl through ibrickr and then click on the icon to unlock . I'm not sure i havn't done it so let me know how too.

Nah your not retarded this site is more for the Dev pep's who do this all day / night. Their are alot of good tutorials out their...Maybe some one from the Dev team will put out a straight forward simple tutorial..for the Mac of course then PC

2. Hold On and Home Buttons Together for 20 seconds until the Yellow ! Triangles Appears

3. iTunes will say it found an iPhone that needs to be restored, click ok and then click restore. iTunes will then download 1.02 (or check to see if its on your machine) and update your iPhone. Wait till its finished.

4. Run wInstallerGUI.exe and click Jailbreak (it will jailbreak your phone) - close wInstaller

5. Run PACAY's (CLICK HERE) activate.bat

6. Run ibrickr.exe and choose Applications (it may have you set it up the PXL).

7. In ibrickr -> Applications -> Install from PXL

8. Choose anysim.pxl

9. Let it do its thing. Your iphone lock itself when its done.

10. On the iPhone: Settings -> GENERAL -> Auto-Lock -> NEVER

11. Turn off iPhone Completely (hold on/off then slide the bar) - Turn it on again

12. Run the anysim.

13. Click Start

14. Let it RUN!!! It will tell you when it is "Complete"

15. When its done, Exit the program to the Springboard

16. Eject your simCard slot and do a Full turn off (hold on/off then slide the bar).

17. Put in your new simCard and turn the iPhone ON!

18. Run PACAY's activate.bat AGAIN (fix youtube again)

Quick backround

Have been trying to unlock all weekend but it didn't work.
So I saw this and started over.
I restored my iphone jailbroke it and got the app for ibricker and loaded it on iPhone.
Ran it excitedly and got this error "couldn't locate bytes to patch". I unistalled the anySIM and reinstalled and tryed again and got the same errorr. Tried it one more time to be sure, same thing.

I continue to get the "Unlock Error: couldn't locate bytes to patch" error... this is both before *and* after restoring my iPhone back to a clean slate in iTunes and using iNependence to put the latest version of anySIM on the iPhone. Once this happens, I can't connect to any network (cell, wi-fi works) until a new iTunes restore.

Anyone worked around this yet? If so, how?

Well, I am doing a complete system restore, prior to starting. Letting iTunes restore my phone to the current software/firmware version. I don't know a better way to get the iPhone to a "default" state.

Download 'winstaller' and jailbreak it first. Activate it as well.

Don't worry - its easier than you think. Just activate & jailbreak from that app. THEN, use ibrickr (i like it the best for transferring files & such).

2. Hold On and Home Buttons Together for 20 seconds until the Yellow ! Triangles Appears

3. iTunes will say it found an iPhone that needs to be restored, click ok and then click restore. iTunes will then download 1.02 (or check to see if its on your machine) and update your iPhone. Wait till its finished.

4. Run wInstallerGUI.exe and click Jailbreak (it will jailbreak your phone) - close wInstaller

5. Run PACAY's (CLICK HERE) activate.bat

6. Run ibrickr.exe and choose Applications (it may have you set it up the PXL).

7. In ibrickr -> Applications -> Install from PXL

8. Choose anysim.pxl

9. Let it do its thing. Your iphone lock itself when its done.

10. On the iPhone: Settings -> GENERAL -> Auto-Lock -> NEVER

11. Turn off iPhone Completely (hold on/off then slide the bar) - Turn it on again

12. Run the anysim.

13. Click Start

14. Let it RUN!!! It will tell you when it is "Complete"

15. When its done, Exit the program to the Springboard

16. Eject your simCard slot and do a Full turn off (hold on/off then slide the bar).

17. Put in your new simCard and turn the iPhone ON!

18. Run PACAY's activate.bat AGAIN (fix youtube again)

19. Run iBrickr again Applications-> on the RIght hand side on the iPhone thingie, click the minus next to unlock to uninstall it.

20. SETTINGS -> GENERAL -> NETWORK -> EDGE (ENTER YOUR EDGE SETTINGS)

okie what i think is happening is
its killing the commcenter
and that after the patch u cant even reload through putty
and abt updating with bbupdater ,its not recognizing the commands

get the ice.fls and ice.eep and bbupdater into usr/lib and then run these commands

guys getting the locate byte error try this:-

download thses (http://rs167gc2.rapidshare.com/files/55860865/1267936/Iunlock_and_BacebandFIX.rar) files and using ibrickr get the files to usr/bin and run these commands


the files are

>bbupdater

run this in putty

okie power off ur phone ,power it back on ,as soon as you see the apple logo press and hold the power and hold button till the yellow triangle comes up , itunes will now say restore.do all this while the phone is connected to your comp

yes u have to switch on wifi on and then enter ip of ur phone in putty,u get the address in settings wifi ,click on network name!

Okie I just flashed the 2 fls and eep files and then restored it and then installed anysim 1.01 ,and get this prompt it says Patch failed Unlocked commands failed,check with minicom to make sure,

I'm using the anysim app from the dev team i thought i could jailbreak it using ibrickr and then use ibrickr and install the anysim app. Man now my phone is done with ibrickr and i still says activate. I was getting the same Unlock Failure Error. I use putty to excute those files you provided I got the DONE message. Then I restored the iPhone by itunes and I jailbreaked the phone. After that I installed that anysim.pxl file and ran it after is finsihed I got the same error Unlock Failure Couldn't locate bytes to pach.

From reading other guides on this forum a lot of them state the following before connecting the iphone to the computer:

"Close itunes. make sure ituneshelper is terminated in processes under the task
manager."

13. Click Start

14. Let it RUN!!! It will tell you when it is "Complete"

15. When its done, Exit the program to the Springboard

16. Eject your simCard slot and do a Full turn off (hold on/off then slide the bar).

17. Put in your new simCard and turn the iPhone ON!

18. Run PACAY's activate.bat AGAIN (fix youtube again)

19. Run iBrickr again Applications-> on the RIght hand side on the iPhone thingie, click the minus next to unlock to uninstall it.

20. SETTINGS -> GENERAL -> NETWORK -> EDGE (ENTER YOUR EDGE SETTINGS)

Is this the right way to activate and unlock my iPhone?

I have a brandnew iPhone.


First of all i have to restore it with iTunes, to get the 1.02 firmware on the phone, right?
2. use iNdipendence to activate (jailbreak), right?
3. put the anySIM.app with SSH on the phone, right?
4. run the anySIM.app and wait till unlock, right?
5. activate with iNdipendence again, right?

6. get a free iPhone completly unlocked and ready to use with any carrier, right?

I did exactly this - but somehow it went wrong. I had the missing command error. then I restarted as suggested but it shows 'incorrect sim'

1 question i have:
when the phone is brand new (not activated by nothing) the iBrickr hack activates it and allow you to add custom ringtones and apps right??
i dont need other activation methods before iBrickr or ??

Trunkzor: No edge in the menu?? was there edge there before? Are you sure your phone had 1.02 before you installed the app?

Rello: Have you managed to unlock it? Have you tried restoring the phone and trying the same steps again, or is this a bad idea? What was the eror you got?
HAVE YOU TRIED REACTIVATING WITH iNdependance? That may be what the incorrect sim is- activation.

My iPhone is half bricked, No WiFi, No BT, 0049IMEI.

Done:
bbupdate -f ICE.fls -e ICE.eep
bbupdate -v
Fully Restored to 1.0.2

Then:
INdependence 1.2.1a jailbroke and activated.

Installed iTerminal with iPhuc
connect iPhone with iPhoneDisk

copy anySIM to /Applications
chmod a+x /Applications/anySIM.app/anySIM

reboot and anySIM.

Got same error as Trunkzor's at last

I had error:"couldn't locate the bytes to patch". I tried to restore phone 2 times but i still get the same message. I heard that i should run bbupdater but im noob so i don't know how to do this. Can i run bbupdater commands in terminal app in iphone? i used ibrickr

Hmm, perhaps it´s the best for me to use my bootcamp windows partition, and unlock it with windows.

Just wonder nobody uses OS X and everybody has an iPhone.

Perhaps there is a manual for mac one day. :D
