First off, I am doing this as a "From Box to Unlock" method. If you've f'ed up your iphone using some other method, i may be able to help, but this is what i have done, now 14 times, without a single issue.
Rule #1 - READ ALL INSTRUCTION STEPS BEFORE DOING THEM.
Rule #2 - have fun with your unlocked iphone.

1) Open Box. take out iphone... it should turn on...Turn it off (red slide).

2) Check to make sure itunes is ver 7.4.1.2. If not download it.

3) Close itunes. make sure ituneshelper is terminated in processes under the task
manager.

4)(if you already have 1.0.2, plug your iphone into your pc and skip to step 7. If you have 1.1.1 Donate to the Dev team, and wait a little while.) Plug usb cable into PC. plug other end in iphone, and as soon as the gray apple appears, hold power button and home button down at same time. Keep holding the buttons down. your iphone will reset itself 2-3 times before you get a yellow triangle.

5)Open itunes. It will say it needs to restore your iphone. Hold the Shift Button and hit restore. Select the 1.0.2 firmware you downloaded above. This should take about 5 minutes(depending on pc i guess)

6) Wait for everything to finish, and it is back on the activation screen.

7) Close itunes. open up AppTapp. Click continue. Select 1.0.2. Hit continue.
****this is very important... i have seen were AppTapp hangs...it will say that it is copying files, but never does, or it will go thru it very fast...3 seconds or so, and says it is done...IT IS NOT. The way you can tell it actually works is if your iphone restarts and goes to the yellow triangle screen, then back to the activation screen.***(Also... AppTapp will complete, but the status bar won't be all the way over to the right. This is fine, just a bit of bad coding.)

8) Close AppTapp. Open PAYCAY, run the (CLICK HERE) activate.bat. it will start to copy files to your iphone. it will also activate your YOUTUBE. Follow the instructions on the screen...when it tells you to restart your phone turn your phone off(red slide). Leave it off for about 15 seconds, turn it on. you should now see the springboard(not the Waiting for activation screen). ( I have had some questions about the Lockdown file being replaced... if you wacth the script run, you will see it do it for you.)

9) Open iBrickr. Click applications. Install the installer.pxl. follow these instructions on screen very carefully...you will have to completely restart your iphone twice during this process.

10) Go back to main screen on iBrickr, and press applications. Click file, select anysim1.1p pxl. Install it, and it will soft boot your phone when done.

11) keep phone connected to pc, move slide to get back to springboard. press the anysim icon near the bottom of the screen. Move the slide on anysim, scroll to the bottom and press the unlock button at the bottom.When it completes turn off iphone. take out ATT sim, hold it in the air and say " This sim has been freed by The Liberator! AKA CarlosValdosta!!!"

12) Put in your sim, make sure that the slanted edge is in the right way.

13) Turn on your unlocked iphone.

14) Use iBrickr to remove the unlock.app. ( go to applications. look at fake iphone on right...click on little red circle next to the anysim1.1 line.

17) Take the plastic off of the phone if you havent already.

16) Be the envy of all your friends.

I followed your great directions, but when I insert my t mobile sim cars it says that it is the incorrect SIM and that the phone must be used with an approved SIM.

Alright.. i have done a little experiment. I have Tried to do an unlock with the gui method, and i had some problems.

I then restored and tried my method, and had problems again.

I have also had 2 people who went and got new sim cards from tmo, and it worked after they had new sims.

There may be some issue with the iphone seeing some sim cards. i know that that shouldn't be the case, but if anyone here has any experience with the old nokia 3390's you would remember that the same thing happened.

I also had this problem, and there was a huge issue with the unlock.pxl messing up with a previously failed sw unlock. 3 hours of work, and i got it unlocked again and all working. Try and do a restore and use this method again.

Man...WORKED GREAT IN MEXICO (Carrier Mx Telcel GSM); only a tricky part when installing appTapp (I suggest users to clic in window "details").

I used the other one, and had all sorts of problems. i think when i get a chance to play around with it i will see how i like it, as for now, it only takes me about 15 minutes to unklock with my method, and i have no problems with anything working incorrectly.

it involves replacing the lockdownd file in one of the IPhone's directories.

In this way the phone will not need to be reactivated every time the user decides to switch SIM cards.

Are you sure? Have you tried switching with another sim? (for instance a Vodafone SIM with a T-Mobile one?)

Hey Fercho,

it involves replacing the lockdownd file in one of the IPhone's directories.

In this way the phone will not need to be reactivated every time the user decides to switch SIM cards.

I have a NEW IPhone that I have brought from Box to activated status with iBrickr and PAYCAY only. So now I am in dilemna whether to risk going to try the SIM unlock. I am running latest 7.4 itunes and fw1.02 on my iphone. Ibrickr works, but I have not used it really to do anything except the initial jailbreak step.

Can I still follow your method after step 7 onwards? Should I take out the ATT sim at this point?

11) keep phone connected to pc, move slide to get back to springboard. press the unlock icon near the bottom of the screen. press start ONCE!..wait... when it says complete at the top, press home button. Turn off iphone. take out ATT sim, hold it in the air and say " This sim has been freed by The Liberator! AKA CarlosValdosta!!!"

ibrickr is an exe file in the zip file you downloaded, just double click on it. follow the instructions......

I have every faith in the dev team...they are my hero... however, i dont like the gui method very much....i've seen some wierd issues. however i havn't tried the new gui...it could be the next best thing since sliced bread, but i'm sticking to my method... i am pretty happy with the 20+ phones i have done with no problems.

I had a bad unlock, and tried your method twice now with the same results of incorrect SIM after a phone reset.

Ive already seen that with this method bluetooth works, and thanks to PACAY, youtube works. But correct if im wrong. In this guide you are using appTapp to jailbreak the iphone right? If so, which one is better, ibrick, appTapp, or wiNstaller?Cause it seems that appTapp, is a bitt buggy right?

1 - Now that anySIM is out, do you recomend us to use it or the old iUnlock?

Start Itunes. then simply turn off iphone, turn on and when logo comes up hold top button and home button until it goes into restore mode (itunes already open in background) Itunes will detect restore mode, accept the restore and it will start downloading, at this point unplug before it finishes. Then hold the two button on unplugged iphone again for like 5seconds and the phone will do a soft restart. Itunes will come up with error once done and press ok.
Now start up ibrickr and it should see your phone no problem.

It would appear that your mobile provider requires two sims in the phone in order to operate properly-something the iPhone can't do. I don't know what advice to give you, other than to find a new provider. :)

I used this method and unlocked my phone flawlessly (XP, Itunes 7.4.1, new boxed iphone V1.02). Everything works except youtube.

Can I simply no plug it in to the computer and rerun the PACAY.bat file again?? Is there a chance I can screw my phone up in any way, because otherwise I am hesitant to do this.

Will it simply overwrite what the old PACAY did, and not cause any side effects to the SIM Unlock?

The SIM reactivation has been covered. NO, one does not need to reactivate with this method.

Apple just released the latest update...Just do a "check for updates" in your current version.

Just call your voicemail and it goes away....when you get a voicemail it will come back.

if you look at the steps, it is actually about the same amount of steps(maybe a 5 min difference in total work time)..., tho i agree with you. i havent tried the anysim because of problems.

This is the best giude. Unlocked 2 8GB fake activated iPhone last night without any problem. YouTube and GPRS are woking fine. Tested 2 v2 sim cards from different carriers and both worked. Haven't tried the bluetooth yet but guess there's also no problem to it.

Use whatever your comfortable with. i just happen to like AppTapp. There are some bugs, but from what i have seen with some of the other jailbreak tools... there can be also.

Yup. I manually entered the DNS server address (which I had left out before :o ) and now it works fine; the signal is kinda weak here (my desktop wifi card has a range booster and still gets a mediocre signal).

Any thoughts on why the Installer app/screen displays only 132.2MB available? When I go to Settings --> General --> About it displays 7.3GB available. :confused:

Nope. I've constantly swapped back and forth between my activated AT&T SIM (from my cellphone) and the non-activated AT&T SIM that comes with the iPhone with no problems. I've been turning the iPhone off while swapping but I've read that you don't even need to do that either.

Ok, i've tried this method, and this one (http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1241195&page=1&pp=15) both left me with the same problem. I have "no service" on the the top left hand corner. I get this even if I use a working Cingular card.

try and let itunes see the iphone(go to the activation screen), after that close itunes and try and restart apptapp

where did you save the unlock-fast.pxl file??? you have to browse to where you saved it when downloading.

Same thing happened to me, its in Easy iUnlocker. Just extract that, and Unlock-fast.pxl is right there.

i think that bluetooth is only going to work for certain functions. OBEX isn't supported for the iphone...probably just going to be useful for headsets.

call your voicemail and hang up...the red dot should be gone...after that it will come back if you have a new voicemail.

I followed the entire guide from post #1, and I have done it twice now. Both times once I install the Unlock-fast.pxl, the phone does not pick up and cellular service.

Any sim card works in the phone, but I can't make any calls because it's not finding a network... any way to fix this?

Figured out the problem.... for some strange reason the Unock-fast.pxl that was on the springboard wasnt actually flashing when I did all of the steps with the sim card that I want to use instead of the original sim that came with the phone.

So, I restored the phone with the original ATT sim, did all of the steps from post #1, and everything worked! When I replaced the sim I had no problems!

the phone should be jailbroken by paycay... is your phone on when you are running this? and did you run apptapp first?

you have to follow the instructions on the 1st page of this topic carefully.... if something went wrong with your unlock progress you have to rollback all changes.. look for the topic "virgin state" or something like that on this forum in order to get back your phone to a factory default state

This is quite simple, her is the step.
1) go to http://iphone.exploit.org/pxl/ dowm load Installer v2.63.pxl
2) Using the ibrickr you allready have to install Installer v2.63.pxl on you iphone (this step will over written the installer on your iphone)
3) Use ibrickr to deleted the program that you just installed and you good to go :D

That's pretty odd... Is your internet connection active? Try and close it and see what happens. Once your restore to 1.0.2 apptapp should see the new fw and bypass the download.
