Scratches on The Screen of Your iPhone?

Found a scratch on the screen of my iPhone last night. Not sure how it got there. Reading the reviews and seeing the videos of people trying to scratch it on purpose led me to believe that it was relatively scratch resistant... Just wondering if I am in the minority?

For those who were wondering I have a feeling it was from my watch. Not sure if it's cause my watch is Titanium or not....

Its only very light and visible only when the screen is a light colour.

Anyone tried buffing any scratches out or know if the screen has a protective coating that would mean that using a very mild abrasive would make the screen go blurry??

It's glass, and I don't know of a way to buff out imperfections in glass. Sure, it's scratch resistant, but not scratch proof. It could come from anything...maybe something in your pocket, or yeah, maybe your watch. Or, if you're like me and have cats...well, they just do crazy things when you're not looking.

oof...that's going to be a problem. The fact that the screen is glass makes it hard to scratch. Unfortunately, it also makes any scratches that do appear hard to fix. You really don't have a chance as far as "buffing it out" goes, this isn't your usual iPod screen. I guess the best solution would be to buy a screen protector, not only will it protect your screen from other scratches, but, in my experiences, it actually makes some scratches less visible.

I would not suggest just using an abrasive. There are various scratch-filling compounds that people have tried for things from glasses to CDs to ipods. Those are safer since the main failure mode is that the goop doesn't last and you can try something else. A lot of simple ones are based on sodium silicate solutions whaich might be found cheaply at a pharmacy under the term "water glass".

Here are some example products, but I haven't tried these specific ones, they're just examples that might be worth testing. The 1st one is a bit scary, but it is supposed to work.

The number one most important thing you have to remember when using these compounds is to test it on the black bars at the top and bottom first so if it fucks up the glass for whatever reason, your screen isn't fucked up as well.

Roughly 1 inch vertical scratch in the center of the screen leaves a rainbow effect.

Painful to look at.

Can anyone confirm a fix for a scratched screen?

I would get a protector for your iPhone. This will usually help the scratches dissappear and make sure it won't get scratched again. I use Sheild Zone and it is fantastic, doesn't make the phone as greasy too, and adds a bit of texture to the touching which I really like.
