Running EyeTV on aTV

I've been attempting to debug why EyeTV won't start Live TV decoding. It seems as if the USB decoder is not being detected. dmesg and syslog don't seem to be giving me much and i'm unsure how to further debug the USB issues.

Is there certain issues and gotchas i should be looking out for? It doesn't look like EyeTV installs a kext for the USB decoder, but perhaps it's using one normally found in OSX (Haupage WinTV?). Any help here would be appreciated. I know others would love to see ATV with integrated EyeTV.

It looks like i need to load some kext. Can i copy it from a intel machine and expect to be able to load it?

Now by no means am i an expert but if you install X Code there is a USB device browser from which you should be able to obtain the identifier for the driver... maybe and then search the ktexts for said identifier and copy over.

have you had any luck yet with dropping a kext in to get your eyetv working? and which kext is it? I have an eyetv EZ and if you are having success i'll go pickup an appletv first thing tomorrow lol =)

Has anyone tried running eyetv under an OSX on AppleTV install?

i have yet to install the full os on my apple tv. i don't have access to the universal build of tiger and the lack of audio and quartz extreme aren't very inspiring. I like the idea of a minimal OS X build on these thin (read: 256 MB) boxen.

I'm going to hack some more tonight on this EyeTV issue.

I got OSX running on a USB last night.

Tonight I am going to install EyeTV. I have EyeTV250 - hope this works.

Then I want to get Media Central or FrontRow running on it.

So I loaded EyeTV on my AppleTV USB OS X and it installed fine and saw the 250 through the USB I guess cause it knew what I had...

Problems...

1. I am viewing on my square TV @ 720 x 480. Any way of getting it to sync higher. Not enough realistate to view stuff

2. I am running ARA and I tried upgrading the ARA client on the AppleTV USB OS Xto 3.1 and it fails. Seems like any updates are directed to the original AppleTV OS, not the USB OS X even though that one is booted. I unmounted them (the AppleTV drives) but the update does not see the USB OS X.

3. I need audio support - not sure where to find it. While installing EyeTV, I kept getting an error about no audio support. Is there a patch for this?

4. Oh - and the EyeTV remote works with the AppleTV as far as I can tell. I can clear the "EyeTV cannot start playback because there is a problem accessing the audio hardware." 1852402768 - error with the remote...
