Solder one wire, that's all.
It will let the battery to bypass the power protection circuit.
Try with a pair of needle 1st!!! Take your own risk and don't blame me if you get further damage your bricked iPhone.
Give me a beer for non-stop researching on this topic and report if you got success

I think... you are running out of battery... try to plug the AC power in, and it will charge up you battery.
See, your iPhone is self powered-on with battery. ;)

Thanks garyz88...Wonderful job.
I just wondering if the soldering is needed all the time? i mean, soldering then leave cable on there.
What did you do ? Could you give some more details.

Of coz, you have to solder it permanently!! As the iPhone battery protection circuit was broken... no way to recover unless to replace a "WORKABLE" comm board.

Our problem is ... our iPhone only power-on with AC power... and only show "Apple" icon
If we connect to iPhone to PC through USB cable, the iPhone didn't power-on

But i tryied to restore the iphone with Itunes and I get error message number 1611...
And I`m back in the infinity loop.... Any one knows how to solve this issue??
Also, the batery does not seem to be charging because everytime I unplug the phone (from wall or computer), it dies...

Last weekend I unlocked 2 Iphones, 1.1.2 OtB 4.6 Bootloader, I used the hardware method on the first one, and it worked!!!, but when I repeated the process on the 2nd, I made a mistake.
I was removing the metal plate above the comm. board, and the iphone turned on by accident, quickly turned it off..., but when I tried to turn it on again, the problem began....The Battery was depleted, I plug it to the charger but the battery only reach de 10% of it’s charge (stays in red), despite the battery icon at the upper right side of the screen is showing a full battery meter, what Can I do???, where can I check for a solution???, I managed to complete the unlocking process, it works 100%, but only when it’s plugged, if I disconnect it, it turns off after 5 seconds…..plissss…need Help….the Iphone wasn´t mine…..!!!!!
Best wishes...

I think I found the solution to this problem. I unsoldered the red battery lead from the commboard and just connected it directly to the new wire that the OP describes. So, it's exactly the same as the OP's picture but neither the new wire or the battery lead are connected to the commboard, they're just floating around. Not 100% confirmed to fix it yet, but I just successfully restored the firmware.

So are you suppose to solder the wire onto both parts there? Or just the first one that appears the OP only soldered onto? He has both circled but iam not sure.
I soldered it on, took a few tries to get it to work. But finally I got it to start up without anything connceted. I was then attempting to proceed with typing in the commands on terminal, and then it just froze, then i unplugged it from being charged, and what do you know, it turned off.. Now it wont turn back on anymore.. Did I not solder the wire properly?

Anyone Anyone
Hi, I have the same problem, phone wont turn on without wall power connected.
Actually I'm thinking why could that happen.
What's causing this problem?
The top alu layer of the battery is broken by driver during the opening and it has a little hole.
Is that the reason? If so - why?
Basically don't wanna solder and don't wanna replace battery. Trying to figure out the problem.
Any suggestions?

i have the same problem.
the iphone wont start unless i plug it in the charger.
i tried your solution using needles and it switched on (once i pressed the on button).
tried it couple of times before soldering it and it was working. unfortunately i was not able to solder it successfully as i burnt the capacitor :p.
i destroyed the comms board now i guess but what i want you guys to tell me is the following:
a) since i successfuly switched it on using your solution, it means that the comms board had the problem from the very beggining right?
b) do i have to replace the logic board as well? i think not, but please tell me.

Well berofe the soldering the iphone would turn on, when on AC, and just show the apple logo and turn off after a few seconds(when it was time to boot in the phone OS). When put on recovery it would show the plug in itunes icon but wouldn't turn off until you unplugged it.
So I tried the soldering but I still have the same problem. Can anyone help if possible?
Just a little background on the phone:
1.1.2 OTB
Itunes upgrade to 1.1.3
Broken sim card reading pin.
Opened up the phone, fixed the sim reading pin.
Closed up, jailbreaked and unlocked.
Tried to remove my sim card to put the owners sim card and the pin must have fallen again.
During the opening on the second time, the wires of the battery got cut and I resoldered them.
The white wire was connected to a small metallic plate, which was removed. I scratched a little bit and revealed the copper circuit below and soldered there and it worked.
The iphone would power on just on AC(or PC), but I was stuck with the apple logo.
So I tried to bypass the battery protection circuit but no luck.
Anything else that I could try?

Works Perfect. Thanks.
BTW You need to solder only bottom capacitor. Not both.

Hi,
does this solve the problem, when the iPhone was connected to one of these iPod speaker systems and was fried with 12V?
Or am I on the wrong track now?

:) It solved the problem for me - but are there any long term experiences? Does the phone charge normally? Can I leave it charging all the night without being scared of an exploding iphone

I have not tried this yet, but I was wondering if this works for IPhone that wont power up at all. It was working, but the power switch was not powering up the phone. I tried to restore in itunes and now will not power on again...
