I've been really impressed with the possibility of an ATV as an OS X thin client. But I'm wondering whether it can be connected to use a regular monitor instead of a TV.

Given that it runs OS X now, and that HDMI-to-DVI cables exist, has anyone tried connecting the ATV up to a standard monitor? If so, does it work, and does one have a choice of resolutions?

Thanks very much.

Yes, this works fine. This is what I'm using in the video going around (youtube, etc.). I have it hooked up to a Dell and have run at up to 1920x1200 using the HDMI to DVI cable.

Currently the setup we are using isn't supporting all resolutions, but we are working to get the drivers in place soon. I was able to get all resolutions on the aTV OS.

Great! Looks like the ATV can really be used just like a Mac Mini then (aside from the obviously missing Firewire/optical drive). Look forward to seeing less standard resolutions supported.

Now if only something could be done with that phantom RAM slot... Oh well, 256MB should be enough for plenty.
