I have a gig of ram on my pc, it seems to work fine. will 2 gb be a good upgrade? its 40 bucks, not sure if its worth it but if it gives it a good boost why not

More Rams will always give you a better performence. You might not see it very clearly but it will effect your PC's performance.
It should decrease the startup time a little bit. Don't wait up for huge time decreases. But more than that you could work with more programs at the same time with a better performance.
So if you wanna to work in a better performance that your PC slows up sometimes when you edit an image in Photoshop you should think about buying more Ram.
Also if you have more slots buy more rams. It would be good. Rams aren't that expensive as before.
Also be careful on the brand you are buying. I prefer Kingston.
