Yes, people with smart phones use email. Most MMs messages are just spam anyway.

That's nice, now go overseas on holiday and start sending snaps back home to all your mates to tell them what a great time you're having at the beach as its happening and then tell us what your phone bill is like when you get home.

Those arguments dont hold ground, pritty much every "smart" phone has MMS, and in Europe (atleast in Norway) MMS is used quite often. Who knows why Apple hasnt made a app for it, if the SwirlyMMS guys can, why cant Apple? Im waiting patently for a new release from Swirly :D

yeah, it's kinda pathetic to see these Apple fanboys defend Apple for something that is pretty indefensible.

LOL @ adyh. He says use email, cos most MMS are spam anyway! What an idiot. What logic.

I agree. Pretty pathetic that this iPhone to this day still does not have either a native MMS app or even a video reorder standard!

One of the reasons why I did not upgrade to the 3G phone...

There is a whole series of features (http://mokumvonamsterdam.blogspot.com/2008/08/iphone-20-but-where-is.html) that should have been released by now.

* SMS forwarding ?
* Copy & Paste ?
* MMS ?
* Video recording ?
* Blocking of unwanted phone calls ?
* Voice Recording ?

all done by third parties [more or less] but not by Apple. Why?

It would be exactly the same - if you have a text bundle from O2-UK, all your MMS (and SMS for that matter) abroad are taken from the same bundle, not charged separately. The cost of using O2's data roaming charges in Europe, however, which is what you would be left with if you had to send email pics using the iPhone, would be astronomical....

Whether or not you use the service as iPhone owner, it's not too much to expect that you can at least RECEIVE them from people properly on your new "cutting edge" smartphone.... MMS is a huge platform in Europe.

There is many things that apple hasnt done that really should blatantly be done.

The problem is that apple can only work on things so fast. If apple could program stuff instantly, the iphone would be 10 times what it is now.

I know what you mean, we payed over $200 for a phone that doesn't come with something as basic as mms.

Apple has a way of pushing ahead quickly and abandoning technologies that really aren't totally dead yet.

They were one of the first computer manufacturers to remove legacy ports (serial, parallel, PS2) and floppy drives from their machines.

They, unfortunately, don't have a good history of listening to the customer.

That was kind of my point, with T-mobile uk its slightly different, MMS messages come out of my monthly Flext allowance, SMS is normally charged at about 40p per message and email is just out of the question completly. For that reason alone my iPhone becomes an iPod and I go back to my rarely used HTC Kaiser when I travel abroad for work or on holiday. Hopefully Apple will come to realise that (some) people actually want basic MMS functionality, I don't even mind so much about sending videos or photos, but you can squeeze a lot of text into an MMS without having to worry about an extortionate phone bill when you get home.

Sorry for digging this up again, but you can all thank DayvG for giving me negative rep and leaving a "BS" comment for my last post in this thread. Thought I'd go back and see what I'd done wrong, still sticking with my opinion though.

bezman is right, I think MMS is for little girls to send pictures of Matt Damon to their friends, Chuck Norris uses email... let the flaming begin :P
But on a serious note, if some dude living in his mom's basement can make a semi decent mms app, there is no excuse for apple. Does anyone know if they have forbidden app store devs from accessing what is needed to make a mms app?
