All the appstore apps are crashing instantly

Today all of a sudden, all the appstore apps are crashing instantly. They would open for 1 second and then crash (brings back to the home screen). All the native original apps runs fine (phone, mail etc). ]

I tried reinstalling those apps on the phone, tried reinstalling all the apps in itunes, tried rebooting many times. I dont want to restore because the process is too long but pretty sure restore will fix it. Anyone else experiencing this??

I had the same problem after installing winterboard and customize on 2.0. I had to do a full restore but this time i didnt install winterboard. Everything is working fine since

@yalag: did you update your filmware to 2.0.1? because lot of pp experience the app crash after they update to 2.0.1. If you are still in 2.0 then uncheck the "sync Application" to phone in Itunes menus. It will remove all app from iphone, then unplug your phone and check the synce application back. This will reinstall all the apps back to the phone. :).

Second method is that using bosstool to change permission for your application. Note: winscp worked find too.

I did not upgrade to 2.0.1, still 2.0. reinstalling all the applications does not fix it. You are suggesting that it might be a permission problem?

Restore to your custom ipsw, set as new phone, synch and you will have your apps back and running.

I expewrieced that problem as well.
To me it look like a RM-problm, so I simply redownloaded all apps from the appstore.
It was a bit of a hassle, but it worked.
After unloadig all apps from the phone, then resyncing and reloading the previously redownloaded apps to the iPhone did it and they were all up and running again.

You might want to try this with a single app first to check if it works for you as well.

the problem is you cant keep doing this, every time you do this you lose your app data, not to mention its a huge waste of time. best to figure out what causes this...

I noticed some time ago, a Cydia update turned like 2-3 of my AppStore apps unstable, crashing just as they were launched.

A few hours later, another Cydia update got on and my apps suddenly got fixed.

My guess is, some libs updated by Cydia were also used by AppStore apps, which is bad/dumb/sad, and can have such adversal issues.

I am also having this problem aftering pwn'ing to 2.0.1 with Pwnage Tool 2.0.2 and applying the mobileinstall patch. Exactly the same symptoms as described here: native apps and cracked ipas work fine, app store apps crash at launch.

I have been led to believe that the mobileinstall patch for 2.0 no longer works with 2.0.1. Waiting for an update on that. But unlike pwnage, not even sure who is DOING that crack, so make some noise y'all. Or someone in the know please acknowledge that the problem is known.

I also would very, very, very much like not to restore again -- as he said, the process is way too long to do it if its not a 99% sure fix.

BTW, one other odd piece of evidence this is a problem with the crack: my ring volume in sounds preferences was set at 0. I am quite sure I did not do this. Maybe an Apple joke? anyone else see that?

a lot of people are blaming the 2.0.1 for this problem but it is not. I have been seeing report of this for weeks. Its just so happen that people are getting this within these few days and they associate it with 2.0.1

So the mobileinstallation patch does still work with 2.0.1

One other thing I did, but is probably unrelated, is apply the Apple Apps Killer fix (google it).

when you mean resync did you mean remove all apps, and reinstall everything (both cracked and noncracked)

My iPhone (1st gen) is running 2.0.1 and is jaibroken, suddenly it started exiting from all AppStore applications installed (which ofcourse worked before) - I rebooted the phone and now everything works as usual :)

I guess this should be the problem.. When i installed apps for my dads phone (Pwned 2.0) via appstore, they worked fine the first day.. After I synced to a pc, i selected the "Do not transfer" purchases in iTunes and after that day the apps dont work.. just crash..

Dint get a chance to authorize comp n try it yet.. ll keep you posted...:o

I had the same problem, i believe i fixed it with a itune sync with de-select all apps, it will let itune to remove all your apps on your iphone, the re-sync them back.

just try installing a free app from app store, this issue happens whenever there goes something wrong with installation from app store and then you get some kind of a lock which prevents you from running your other apps as well.
This lock is somehow released by installing a free app, at least it worked for me

Yes. Cydia, Installer and all the cracks apps work very well...
The problem happens only with the free apps from App Store...

Figured out whats the problem , its iTunes 7.7.1 .. just use 7.7 if you use any cracked ipa's.

now a way to solve this , fire up itunes 7.7.1 .. plug your device and uncheck sync applications , click apply and all the apps will be removed from the phone .

Downgrade to iTunes 7.7 , if you use windows , just uninstall it in the ADD/Remove .. if you have a mac :

in terminal type the following after exiting itunes :
defaults write com.apple.iTunes StoreActivationMode -boolean NO
defaults write com.apple.iTunes StoreGeniusMode -boolean NO
killall iTunesHelper
rm -r /Applications/iTunes.app
rm -r /Library/Receipts/iTunesX.pkg
rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes*
sudo rm -r /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework

now download 7.7 and install it.

fire it up , resync your apps ( ALL of em ) and you'll be back with free aps working... i had a headache from this problem , i restored 3 times and it kept coming back so i thought i must find a solution.

I found that it is a security related feature, just to block the "unautorized" copy of application from one iPhone to another.

So, it creates a folder structure with data asociated to your iTunes account. If it seems to be changed, all the applications associated to that id becomes unusable.

The simpler way to make my iPhone work again (simpler, but no fast...) is to delete all the applications directly from the phone.

Just delete all the folder located on /private/var/mobile/Applications/

You can try: "\rm -rf /private/var/mobile/Applications/*" ON THE IPHONE!

Then resync the apps from iTunes.

It works for me. May work for all.

Be adviced that if the application stores local data, and it isnt back'd up you may lost something important.

By the way, since I done that, all my apps works great.

I had the same problem, i believe i fixed it with a itune sync with de-select all apps, it will let itune to remove all your apps on your iphone, the re-sync them back.

It worked for me too, but iTunes can't reinstall one app /BreakClassic Lite, because of an "unknown error", but after a new sync, everything works flawless

I had the issue with the apps crashing and my music was gone in the iPod. I first authorized iTunes again (under Store, Authorize Computer), then I synced the phone, and I still had the same problem. Finally, I checked off the "Synch only checked songs and videos" in the Summary tab for my iPhone and hit "Apply" (this is on a Windows computer - I am not sure if the iTunes version on the Mac has the same options). It synced iTunes with the phone - which took about 5 minutes. I went back to the phone and my music was back in the iPod and the apps began to run again! No retore needed! I hope that this works for others as well!

I was hopeful this would fix the problem, but it didn't for me. Music still missing and free/paid for apps still crashing.

Got the same issue here.
I am on 2.0.2 with winpwn 2.5.2
All apps which I have downloaded start and close within a second
Tried the resynch and the killswitch via bosstool
Still no luck.

then downloaded al apps via the itunes store on the pc

and however, now everything works...

some apps return an error 8x00000ed or something like that

when i was 2.0 i did not have these problems


if i restore to 2.02 then download one appstore app, launch it and it breaks, so with nothing else installed my first app won't run

if i go into itunes, authorize, unsync apps, then resync apps, same problem

when i launch app, it trys then a split second later exits.

Try to remove all apps from your phone before synching
So you will download, better redownload via itunes
So itunes is responsible for the upload to your phone

As I mentioned before install boss prefs tool (think its version 2.12)
under more is the kill apple switch
do that before you resynch

it took a while because i synched with itunes before downloading all the apps again
then downloaded the apps to itunes directly and then synch again

got no more error and all seems to run stable

btw: I am on 2.02 firmware with Winpwn 2.5.2 beta
all runs fine

well i figured it out
its 2.0.2
something in 2.0.2 is broken or has a new security feature to prevent you from downloading and ssh apps

i have done all the steps mentioned in this thread but apps still crash

i went back to 2.0
and sure enough all my problems went away
itunes 7.7.0 and firmware 2.0 plays just fine, i can download app store apps and open them fine, i can ssh my own apps and both work

my advice, stay away from 2.01 and 2.02
i have checked on the apple forums and huge threads there about 2.02 being broke, even ppl who dont JB have problems with app store

and i'm hearing steve jobs is releasing 2.1 on friday the 12th and i quote it fixes the problem of app crashing!!!

Tried everything, didnt work. Only way i solved this was an unfortunate restore, but at least everything can be backed up before the restore, so less of a pain!
