I'm kind of surprised the hackintosh community hasn't been discussing this thing at all. It seems to me that this is a great way to get an iPhone-without-the-phone. If we work out a way to give it a microphone via the Dock connector then it becomes a perfect Skype phone and OS X PDA.

Isn't there already a mic available for the dock connector? Y'know, the one that plugs into both the connector and the headphone jack?

would it be possible to get the new iPod OS (from the new nanos and classics) running on a 5.5G or 5G video iPod?

I dont know, try it. You can download the firmware (i forget the link), and then try flashing it to your iPod
you might come out with a bricked iPod though, i dont know for sure

I'm pretty new to this stuff so I wouldn't know what to do to do that. Also I couldn't live without my ipod :p

i have been down with the cause for over 15 years. just sold my iphone 8gb unlocked, and made a nice killing on it ;) immediately got myself a 16GB touch. This thing is so superior to any handheld DEVICE out there, I'm actually truly impressed. The iPhone was a great innovation - wonderful to learn, hack, rebuild, destroy. However "phone" means "work" for me. And I'll be sticking to my Treo, unfortunately. Dont' get me started on EDGE.
however i think this is the best i have ever seen from apple for the money.
and i hope we do some real nice work on it :D
i'll give the community about 1 month - before the iPod touch's springboard or what have you - is filled with everything the iPhone has. weeeeeee
everyone needs this thing. The classics are great revamps, nanos are great- but this is the best yet from Da Campus.
