Hi guys/girls,

Our CEO has decided to trade in his IBM notebook and got himself a MacBook Air.

Problem we are getting is that we have two sites so he connects to two different wireless connections. In site A his macbook takes about 10 seconds just to resolve google or any other address. On the same connection if he uses his IBM its instant. We also have a second users at site A with a mac and PC and they are gettin the same results!

But if he goes to site B and connects to the wireless he is resolving address on the macbook instantly.

I'm think possibly something to do with DNS on the mac?? I'm really not a mac users so not sure where to trouble shoot this one.

Any help will be much appreciated.

PS we've tried both firefox and safari and the results are the same.

Thanks again

Buy airport extreme from apple, http://www.apple.com/airportextreme/

it increses performance on 802.11n Wifi which is what your mac has, will make the resolving faster, i promise. and it will extend your wifi twice as far, just a bonus ;).

then just use one computer for one and the other fr the oher site, or get a faster internet provider.

Definitely sounds like DNS. As long as the computer doesn't have to resolve hostnames within the network, you might want to try entering known-good DNS servers in Network preferences ("advanced" button, DNS tab). I like Level3 (4.2.2.1, 4.2.2.2, etc.) but OpenDNS (http://opendns.org/) is generally the fastest.

While you're having the issue, open up Terminal and run "dscacheutil -flushcache". That erases the local DNS cache and may (temporarily) resolve the issue (and point you in the right direction for troubleshooting).
