[Macbook Air] Install Windows w/o USB Drive

Hey guys,

Very happy with my 2 iPhones :) I committed the mistake of buying a Macbook Air! :(

I have used windows all my life and am having a lot of trouble with the Mac OS.

Is it possible to load Windows - w/o the USB drive - thru the network drive? I'd prefer a clean install w/o Mac but a windows bootcamp might do for now.

theres a windows emulator where you cna run windows in an extra screen on your pc, look for it on apple.com or on your users manual, but if your gonna use that id recommend an anti virus because your mac will now get viruses through the windows xp window, but hey man i just moved from pc to mac like a week ago and i got it preety quickly and i love my mac man best deal ive ever made, once you go mac, you never go back

Yes, I too was all windows (I know XP like the back of my hand). I got a mac for video editing purposes, and was expecting to install xp via bootcamp. Now I don't even have a windows partition anymore. Don't give up on OS X because you're having trouble. Once you learn it, it makes your life sooooooooo much simpler. Yeah, you may need windows for certain programs, but for everyday tasks, a mac is always better.

One tip if your having trouble because you're so used to windows is this- Think simplicity. Everything is simplified for OS X. Dumb yourself down and then think "how would a retarded person try to do this function?" - And that's usually the answer. And if you can't figure it out, always google it, because once you know one concept, ALOT of others will feed off it.

And use this forum because these people are the true experts.:)

Thanks guys but since this was bought as a travel laptop, my family will also use it. And they are not inclined to learn the mac one bit. ;)

So, back to square one! - Is there a way to install vista (clean or bootcamp) w/o the USB drive? :)

Well I got my mACbook air and its running vista too via bootcamp, i HAVE AN IDEA.
There is a feature in the mac book air that is called remote disk,you can use a different comps cd drive.Just search for it

Basically it means that to install boot camp one NEEDS the superdrive. :(

You're Wron The only way You could get a viruce Is To go on an adult site and there it's only for 10.4.x and apple fixed it asap. So Lear Pc Guy mas have under 1500 Trojans or anything

I have a MacBook Air I have always been a PC person and I have never been happier with my MacBook Air :D

My MacBook air boots faster than a PC and I have to boot two operating systems macs systems and windows, and I know that my MacBook Air runs windows better that a pc.

I recommend loading VMWARE FUSION on your Air Then you can load Windows on your Air. BUT you will need to buy you a super drive from Mac. Is the only way I found to load windows on the MacBook Air. The good thing is when you allocate the amount of hard drive for windows is that you do not lose the portion of the hard drive that you allocated to windows. Example is if you give windows 20 Gb and you only use 10 Gb then your Mac can use the other 10 Gb if needed. With boot camp if you allocate 20 Gb to windows the MacBook Air cannot use any part of that partition.
