It seems that yet again Apple had a great/epic idea but just couldn't manage to follow through on it and we have yet another half assed innovation by Apple that will fall far short of its potential.

I downloaded this to my iPhone and updated my ATV just so I could use my iPhone as the one and only remote for the ATV that would work anywhere in my house and yet I was disgusted to learn that you still need to use the old (and very useless) ATV remote to switch between menus, and well do just about everything else. In fact all you can do with the iPhone is browse your music library and use it as a keyboard for Youtube searches, however to get into Youtube search you still need the old remote to navigate to that area... how stupid and if you're gonna leave out that much functionality from the iPhone, why even bother??

I don't have an ATV to test but as a remote for iTunes the iPHone works exceptionally well, really easy to use, and I like the fact its like the built in player.

Lacks one thing though, the ability to switch to full screen mode with the videos

Its really retarded... according to Apple it is more convenient to carry around your iPhone and the original Apple remote, constantly switching between the two to accomplish a simple task than to just have one remote with no keyboard.... go figure...

Seriously this is how youtube works with the iPhone remote...
1) Using the Apple TV remote, navigate to the youtube menu.
2) Browse videos using the ATV remote.
3) Select the search option using the ATV remote, a keyboard will appear on your iPhone.
4) Type in your search criteria using the iPhone and hit search on the iPhone.
5) You must now use the ATV remote to browse the search results and to select which video to watch.

Its like, SERIOUSLY????

Man how fucked up!! Surely if they can control certain aspects of the Apple TV menu they can do the rest lol

I expect to see this fully compatible in a near future upgrade!! Fuck knows what they were thinking though!!

I'm stuck in Verifying?

I enter the correct passcode and itunes asks me again and again for it.
