Make sure your iPhone is on the same network as your computer. Remote.app runs through the local network and connects to iTunes through it.

it's probably because the bonjour service is disabled in your computer, to activate it go to start>>run>>services.msc>>Bonjour Services>> right click on it>>properties>>select automatic and click start, now restart itunes and it should work.

Try starting the Remote-App on your phone while it is connected to iTunes via USB. That is what helped me. Still I have the issue with the code.

Do you have any 3rd party firewall activated (intego, symantec) ?
To make sure Bonjour Service is working, just start iChat and activate the Bonjour Buddy List (Command + 2). If it is disabled iChat will ask you if you want to enable it.

I'm also having a problem on my hackint0sh trying to get remote to see my iPhone. Works fine on my Vista machine. I am not running any 3rd party firewall programs, and I enabled Bounjour thru iChat and still no luck....

So I think i figured it out. I did what they said to do in this thread, http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1593000&tstart=270 which was just changing the firewall settings, but then i also enabled sharing of my library from within iTunes. Prefs -> Sharing -> Share my Library on my Local Network... I had just reinstalled mac osx86 and forgot to recheck that and once i did it worked for me
