[Remote] Ports, 1.1.4 compatibility and security?

I was just wondering what port itunes used to do remote app control.
I have 1.1.4, so it's also a potentially a long wait to not be able to use the feature. Are there any 3rd party solutions? Could someone with the 2.0 beta firmware copy the app and get it on a 1.1.4 phone?
I was also wondering if the session is encrypted or whatever while you communicate with itunes. My mouth waters over the potential for pranks.

It won't run because it uses 2.0 frameworks, also because it contains DRM.

Apple can't release a 1.1.4 version as they want people to register to their new AppStore cash cow.
