[Advice] Frozen Mac mini !

Hi All,

My Mac mini worked flawlessly until this evening when I was working with XCode and was trying to Compile some apps. Later on Reboot it worked properly again and then I Synced my iPhone and after the sync again it froze.
And now even after reboot, it loads all startup icons and freezes !!!

I can move the pointer and see Finder when I use Command + Tab. But I cannot open anything or minimise apps, etc.


Please help. I am new to Macs and dont know whats wrong !!! :(

Try restarting and hold the following keys: Command, Option, P, and R

This should reset your PRAM and this might clear any thing that is causing the system to Hang UP.

It started working again after a few reboots. But thanks I'll remember this. Might be helpful sometime...

Well, this problem has become more frequent now... Can you tell me a sort of Task Manager for the Mac where I can see and terminate Processes..?

There is a task manager application in the utilities folder that should allow you to end any applications that are causing the mini to freeze. You should also check to see if any applications are starting at startup, this might solve it. This is under the users tab (i would suggest no start up apps).

I have already disabled all startup apps, however I need to see the processes as Symantec Internet Security keeps causing the problem....

Use Activity Monitor from your utilities folder to view all running processes. However you would be better off removing Symantec as all their software has always had problems on macs even before OS X. It has already caused you a few kernel panics i can see from your earlier posting.
