Okay, so with OS X 10.6 being mentioned more often with a code name already attached to it (aka. Snow Leopard), I think it's time for a simple post about why these beta releases are important to developers.

First off, let me just say this: No matter how many times you PM a developer or ask for these beta releases, you will not get a copy. This is to protect the people who are being kind enough to provide these images. The closer it stays, the easier it is to protect.

Now, with that out of the way, it's highly unlikely that any attention will be given to the GUI, it's just not as important as the underlying features that drive the system. Just because it looks like 10.5 does not mean that it's fake. Leopard didn't get any visual changes until 9a4xx!

The first ADC release of Snow Leopard is 10A96. Trust me, I just know.

Don't count out the original method of booting >.o

Other than that, I'm still getting back in the game, so expect to see something in the future from me (http://bikedude880.freeflux.net) :)

would LOVE to know where you guys get your grubby mitts on these releases! For me, as an average (non-dev) user, I like running the beta OS Xs for two reasons.

Firstly, I am studying Operating Systems at university, and its very interesting to see what these guys do to improve something I think works great already (save a few niggles). Case in point, OpenCL - which creative genius thought THAT far out of the box? (same goes for the guys at nVidia and AMD).

Secondly, its fun! :D

hopefully us average joes will soon see a leak from another source.

keep up the good work guys :D

It is a beta.
In my personal opinion, I wouldn't like my laptop to fail
or something, as I always take it with me but I don't take
the installation DVDs, so why worry about future releases,
that is why it in "beta", so stick to 10.5.4 if you are not
a developer.
