Take a look yourselves and be the judge...

Gizmodo Website (http://gizmodo.com/5015732/phil-schillers-iphone-3g-has-front-camera-or-greasy-fingerprint)

I would love if that was true... remember YouTube with the first Iphone...

I'm positive its fake. I doubt that the phone he was using is even 3G...

You sure? Check the video yourself around the 6th and 11th seconds you can actually see that there is a round hole there...

It does look suspiciously like a camera.

Its just a fingerprint from his greasley fingers. :p The iPhone 3G is has already been reviewed at Gizmodo (Hands-On Review). So unless Apple decided to create working "dummy" sets to fool us, I dont think it will be possible. However, i do agree it will be an extremely pleasant surprise from Apple if they added an front camera on the iPhone 3G and did not mention about it in the WWDC. Not to mention, some telcos like Singtel are already taking reservation for the 3G iPhone and if they want more sales, its better for them to state the additional and much needed feature of a front camera.

That being said, I wont be surprised if Apple really "listented" to its customers for once an add the damn front camera for the release. Trust me, I will be pleasantly shocked :D

I agree it's unlikely, but after looking at that video dozens of times it seems that it's no smudge/reflection...

Perhaps they did not mention it because the software end for the video function is not ready yet...

In any case this wouldn't be the first time Apple did that... they did it with the Youtube app and the glass for the first Iphone just a few weeks before launch.

Its just one of the sensors... Even with the old iPhone you can see them in the light. Sensor for ambiant light and proximity sensor.

I don't know... to big for a sensor. Check your current IPhone, the sensors are hardly visible and are alot smaller. Both (light and proximity) stay right above the speaker, why would they change that?

i can believe the mark on the left side is a smudge, but that little thing on the right looks like it could either be the light sensor or a camera. and yeah, there is a possibility apple hasn't written the code in the firmware for it yet.

I dont think it wil be a surpirse. In that case all the companies that make accsesories, will have to re-make them and make a new hole on their protectors.
