Heres the deal. I am planning to get 3G when it drops but HOW do I get this WITHOUT a contract? I just want the phone. I heard from some connecs that they found ways to get it WITHOUT contract.. does anybody here know?
I'll pay over $199 IF I can get it with no contract.

selling your phone probably wasnt the best idea as there is a distinct possibility that it will be impossible to get the new iPhone without a contract.

You can buy the iPhone without contract in Italy, France, Belgium and UK so far, more will follow and the price will be around 500€ for the 8GB.
Is nobody READING the news?

If you are willing to pay more, here is an easy way. Get the phone at AT&T, sign up for the contract, and then just pay the ETF and cancel. Phone is all yours.

here's something i read elsewhere, just get it from att with the contract, then "move" somewhere where they don't have coverage, and they'll be forced to cancel your contract without any fees.
I don't condone this or reccomend it and i'm pretty sure the place i saw it meant it as a joke.

It's not that simple, though i wish it was:(, they are making you return the phone if you cancel early or pay the other half of the subsidation on top of the ETF, thats lookin a little pricey...

Good friend at ATT retail location hinted that the new iPhone will be a a contract phone. The lower price Steve Job talked about is the ATT subsidized price.

Yep.. Actually it will be $175 for cancellation. It would then cost 375. thats not a bad deal.
I sold my phone too and waiting for July 11th.

+ $70 for first month's service + tax + $35 activation.. that's if you cancel after the 30 day trial period. if you cancel before, you will be asked to return the phone. if not, they will charge you the "actual price of the phone", which i hope at this point is just $200 more. that is my plan.

Not really. If you aren't going to use ATT it probably doesn't make sense to buy a phone until it's hacked by all the smart people on this forum.
It may only take a few days or it may take weeks, but until then you either have an expensive paperweight or your stuck on ATT....maybe forever. lol

if you buy the iphone sometime after the release, you can wait 30 days to cancel your contract. meanwhile a hack gets released...simple.
By the way, how hard it is to get an iphone lets say in new york on release day? Is it gonna be out of stock right away?

That's the whole point of an ETF.
Otherwise who in their right minds would pay it? You pay a fee to be able to terminate your contract early. If you're not worried about your credit then just buy an iPhone and cancel without paying ATT shit. Hell don't even tell them youre cancelling. They'll figure it out after they don't recieve a dime from you. All they can due then is put it on your credit report......

HELL NO! they can't do it if you paid the ETF, and if they do... good for you, 'cause you would have a case of fraud on your hands to sue them for. And then you ask for free iphones for all of us! hahahahha :D

simple buy it from a contry that sells it on vodfone..witch will be selling it as a pre-pay phone
then let the hacking begin..
this time we will rely on other contrys rather then them relying on us ah the cycle of humilaty :D

THis is different in the UK. If we cancel a contract, we have to pay for the rest of the contract duration (so £35*18).

without ATT?
sounds great but you still have to wait for people to find a way to unlock it away from ATT
so until then, dont get excited
