View Full Version : [GPS] it is gonna use data at the same time.
Since its using google maps and the maps arent already in the iPhone(has to download them) then it'll use Data. I live in Canada and there is no unlimited data plan. I was considering the new iPhone for its GPS but without a data plan its pretty much useless. I hope rogers or fido will have reasonable data plans.
The other solution would be a GPS app with all the maps already preloaded. Do you think it will happen?

That's my hope.
Pretty much a reasonably prices UNLIMITED data plan is a requirement for me to get a new iPhone.
Had a nasty $385 bill from Fido for overages. Was like pulling teeth to get them to reverse it. Anything other then unlimited with this phone is not an option.
I'm pretty sure new data plans will appear on July 11 from Rogers.

I'd be surprised if all the major GPS manufacturers didnt have an Iphone solution available, you could easily store the software and maps on the 8Gb phone.
The missus has a HTC Touch Cruise with IGO8, UK and Aus maps and it only takes up about 600Mb on a 4Gb Micro SD card.
I'll be purchasing a third-party GPS app, Google Maps is fine if you just want to see a street guide but useless if you want turn by turn instructions.
