Aint it illegal to sell locked phones in France? Hence should be unlocked in France for same price if Steve keeps his word however im sure there will be something dodgy going on!

Its got so many cool features on top of the 3g and gps we knew about. And im glad they kept the same design just changing the back colour and buttons. Its great that its now affordable for anyone, and i am definately going to get one, now i have to start saving up :)

I like the way they brought it in a locked safe lol Just shows what an amazing phone it is :D

I was hoping for this. But the apple store in Uk has just gone offline. Maybe they spotted the error? i surely hope its sold unlocked.

What about India, when's the launch date, and will it be already unlocked and still for 200$ (approx Rs. 9000).

Also as per grey markey, used iphone 8GB is selling for around 400$.

but now considering the launch in US on 11 july.
Should i sell it now, and use Nokia N91.

As i have to go to trip from 1st july-12 july.

What should i do, to not sell my iphone 8GB (2G) for pennies !
Will it sell above $ 400 on ebay U.S. or any other country's auction site !

I bought it from US for $ 400, when it was available in India for 630 $.

dont quote me on this but.... im pretty sure the $199 price is for the official carrier subsidized iphone. pretty sure you'll have to sign some sort of contract... either that or the itouch is going to be more expensive than the iphone with less features... or under $200 bucks as well. but if you do that then you pretty much gotta drop the price of the other ipods as well... :confused: who knows?..... i guess well just have to wait till the 11th of next month....

Not on launch day, but 48 more countries will get it throughout the year for a total of 70.

Size comparison:

3G iPhone: 115.5 x 62.1 x 12.3
current : 115 x 61 x 11.5

so slightly bigger all round, but not by much.

I am AT&T costumer and I'm assuming we will be bound to another 2 year contract. Unless, iPhone Dev Team figures a way to jailbreal/activate it so we can just swap SIMs and use our current plans.

Btw - iPhone users on AT&T, $20 Data Plan is for 3G, EDGE and GPRS. We just are stuck [right now] using EDGE.

And fatter iPhone, ugh, may seriously determine if I buy it or not. Something thicker than my current iPhone will most certainly be a big issue for me now.:rolleyes:

Well... I'm still tied to AT&T for another year because of the last iPhone purchase... I actually enjoy the service I get from AT&T (it's far better where I live than Verizon), so I'm not leaving them... But enjoying 3G might be nice, especially at that price.

I really really do hope your rigth but soemthing in my gut tells me its simply an oversight or they have not added it yet!!!!!!! Man these things would really fly off the shelves if sold unlocked at this price - would prob be impossible to get your hands on the damn things!

All the screens of the new 3G iPhone on the official UK apple page show the iphone with no o2 symbol before the announcement it was on the images. This is the same for all the images on all the european apple sites, the only site with a carrier image is the US one.

When I check the where to buy button it says you can get the new iphone from any of Fido's stores or Rogers Stores.

So now Fido and Rogers are going to be selling them!!

i'm just wondering if i could still get the phone for a lower price (my guess is that it'll cost 209/309 or something like that) and still be able to use my current contract with Fido... and if not how much the phone will actually cost.... and if it'll come unlocked :)

Nothing can be the same price everywhere, not even Steve Jobs can do that! If you know how world trade goes, exchange rates change daily, overtime sometimes drastically, so no matter what Apple try and do, the price WILL be different. He is not going to tell you that, work it out for yourself. ie, watch what happens over the internet in the next 2 months. Contract systems will have to suit local conditions and local laws. It is highly likely the iphone only will be sold uncontracted in some of 22 countries it is being released in!
