Hi All,
If the new 3G iPhone will have the 5.3 Bootloader, will it take more time for the Dev Team to unlock it.. ? And will users be able to switch Bootloaders from 5.3 to 4.6 ...?
Thanks. :)

how about you do like the rest of the people and wait till it's out... no one can awnser a question like that till it's out (exept steve)
god damn im tires to see post like that...
how long do you think its gonna take
when it's gonna be unlocked
are we gonna be able to make a margarita with it...
of course it's gonna take more time, of course we are gonna be able to switch...
it's not a matter of IF it's a matter of WHEN

that's like asking.. "guys will i win the lottery tomorrow?"
coming from a "senior" member on this forum, i'm shocked that you would ask such a question.

quite a nostalgy though, remember 'ages' ago, without any pwnage, bootneuter, iliberty, iplus etc. how everybody asked 'is it gonna be possible to donwgrade 4.6 to 3.9', and then when the HW unlock came, everybody started, but I don't want to open my phone
sry for such I offtopic, It just kinda made me laugh :D
No, he's just an elite mathematician. He figured that Apple goes in .7 increments in their BL business. They started off at 3.9 bl, then added .7 and got 4.6 bl. Now if they went another .7 we'd have 5.3... :) But hey, at least the version after that will have prettier 6.0 vanity BL...

how can i check the bootloader off a prototype device? I have access to one (don't ask how).

Call Zoron (don't ask why) to Jailbreak it and install HWinfo :D

Hey, there's a few posts where you seem to be sure about what the upcoming device will have.. Now you claim you have access to it... You once stated that 3G would come with built-in GPS... GPS will really make it or break it for me, so I hope when you say you have access to it you mean it...

So you reckon you have a prototype of the new iphone? Well if that was the case you must know alot about iphones, and so you should know how to check the bootloader version. Coz there not going to release a prototype to just anyone, you must somehow be involved with the design and manufacturing process, in order to get hold of one.
Anyway if you truly do have one, the answer is you need to activate and jailbreak it, however we dont know if the current methods will work for the new iphone. Once you have done that install bbinfo from installer, this is the easiest way.

LOL... best advice ever. oh well, i guess i wont be able to check the bootloader then. i'm not allowed to and neither do i have the necessary skills to mess around too much with the device.
and yeah..it does have GPS.
spaceman81, do you have a camera? Why not use it the next time you're around the device? ;)

very interesting reply
Because you have already stated that you have one and that you have confirmed the specs (GPS) why no release pictures
Seems the logical way to proof this

If you have access to one, I assume you are given the 3G ipsw too. Now, just "decrypt" the smaller ramdisk, look at /usr/local/standalone/firmware/ and you shall see the bootloader fls.

That's too advanced.. He says he doesn't have enough skills to pull off something like that... So I assume he's not immediately involved in the development of the coveted 3G...., must be some other kind of behind-the-scenes "access"...

LOL... I just imagine.

Maybe Setting---> General ----> Info/About (and tell us what you see)
Guys give him a chance he might work on at&t store and there might i only say might have some kinda access, nobody knows. Definetely if that is so you can really ruin a great presentation hold by Aplle in the WWDC (beleive me that costs alot).

P.D. I would really be shocked if the press will be presenting the day before Steve shows up with the new comunication device.

I dont beleive for a 2nd that any empolyee at At&T will have access to this device. It would be too much of a temptation to sell it and beleive me someone would pay big for the "first" device of the 3G version
I dont beleive that anyone that has one would risk coming on a public forum to say these things. I also still beleive that these things are still under wraps.
The media certainly dont have them or we would have seen more. Steve and Apple want the big bang and they would not risk this by just "giving" them out to people
I have a friend who works are o2 and was invloved in the last iphone launch and is involved with this one and I can tell you all they know its coming soon, they have all the advertising ready to goto press, but no phone photos or specs, the advert design board is ready with the execption of this details and are awaiting these from apple once the Apple launch has happened.
The devices will still be secure away from non apple approved people. once the annoucement happens the distribution operation will happen.
For this guy to come on there and say I have one and then ask a stupid question how do i get the bootloader info, seems crazy to beleive he even has one

i don't work in an AT&T store. the person i know has access to the prototype for testing purposes. it's really ok if you guys don't believe it. i wouldn't either. i just wanted to know if i could find out the bootloader version without doing anything to the actual device. i wouldn't want anyone to get into trouble because of my curiosity.

Hold on a minute
You have already stated that you dont have the skills to find out the bootloader information, why would you for 1 second what to know how to decrypt the firmware and then do ..... what with it:confused:
If you have the device you can just find the bootloader without any special methods
just look in the settings
bluerockuk1, since when the bootloader version is shown in the Settings? That's the baseband version that's listed, not BL... well, unless you have Steve Job's special edition phone ;)

Let me suggest something to end your misery and satisfy your curiosity at the same time. Why don't you share the 3G ipsw to the Dev Team and let them tell you what bootloader version inside?
but come on why the stupid questions from someone that claims to have a 2nd gen iphone
Yeah, that was my first reaction too but if you think about it Apple's rocket scientists may not be the only authorized employees with access to the 3G model.. Take the security guards, for example.. Don't tell me they're all Stanford Ph.D.'s that can tell the bootloader version from the phone's lock sound... :) The point I'm trying to make is that's possible that a prototype (possibly later modified??) model, which that guy is talking about, is accessed by someone not savvy enough to tell the bl without taking the thing apart :) ..Yes, it's amazingly well guarded, you have to give this to Apple, but it's just a *phone* after all, not alien spaceship...

Well another take on this is the fact that Appels art/Graphic dept/marketing dept woudl have there hands on this iphone. I mean where do all the pretty pics come from at the Expo and websites as soon as a product is announced!!
Anyhow I would like to know what it looks like compared to the v1 iphone???
A description would be cool!? What other features?? Any new apps?
Screw bootloader questions thats the boring stuff that we cant do much about until released!
