My point was not the fact that a new iphone is coming it was more the fact that there could be some possible rebate deal put in place to trade your existing iphones in for a discount on the new one

When the 3g news stops, we will be talking about jailbreaking and unlocking the 3g iPhone, then we will be talking about the "true" 3g, or 3rd generation, iPhone. It seems like the third generation will bring various formats of iPhones and more innovation. The 3g iPhone is a way to appease those who want 3g and to make the iPhone marketable and successful as a phone in Europe and Asia. Of course, Microsoft Exchange and the App Store should also bring much desired facets the the 3g iPhone, but it will likely not have a better camera, and, out of the box, it will likely lack a better camera app, video recording capabilities, voice dialing capabilities, MMS capabilities, search feature in Calendar, abilitiy to utilize the iPhone as an external hard drive, A2DP and other bluetooth functionality, and other such features that would be a pleasant surprise if they were included. Some of these will be provided through the App Store, but it would be better if Apple would provide such features, as Apple usually provides a more fully integrated and innovative product. Hopefully, there will be some additional pleasant surprises included, but I will not hold my breath in expectation of such pleasant surprises. :D
