The new iPhone wont be having different colours !
They are not 50 $ iPod shuffles! The iPhone is an expensive device!

Apple cant afford to have some colours being sold extensively and some colours lying in Stores and no one getting them! And if the iPhone stock is over in AT&T Stores and Online from weeks, it obviously shows that they want to sell off all the stock and dont want left overs!

I could see white and black maybe, but never red. I'd say if anything it would be to differentiate between the expensive and inexpensive models, just like they do with the macbooks and (to a certain extent) the nanos. Obviously, the black would be the more expensive one if this were the plan.

Realize that the standard ipod went 4 whole generations with no color whatsoever, and then only went to two choices. Yes, the cheap ipods were colorful, but they could afford to keep them in stock longer (like others have said above).

If it looks like the old iphone im happy. I just hope they bring it out in black thats all, although if not i can always get it modded, and i hope it does have a load of new features (flash, gps, better bluetooth (2.0 firmware) etc), as the iphone is only lacking in the camera and bluetooth area in my opinion. Then it would be the ultimate phone.

Just a note for all those saying that it is going to be the same depth or fatter. There is a chance that they could use an OLED screen as some are speculating. I know that they are expensive and thus highly unlikely but it is possible so I just wanted to throw that into the mix.

Well, thse black covers I remmber were avaialble in hongkong for current phones starting from around 2$. They repalced the entire aluminum cover of the iphone back.
The white plastic backs were also avialble covers from hongkong, I remember I saw them a while back on eBay.. lol
Either the iPhone 3G will not look diffrent OR it will look real diffrent (maybe more like the touch?) who knows, we will at least know exactly in a few days.

I was wondering what could be the green icon. We can regnonize the "Preferences" icon and upper a green icon. I don't think it is SMS or a MMS application but I don't know what it is!

Edit : we also can notice that this iPhone COULD be white. Maybe it is something with the picture's quality but it looks white to me!

Yeah, I got that too... Well, it's nice to able to save 20% on a shield, but apart from that I think they have no idea of what the device will look like if that's what you think it is... It says "shipping approx. the end of June 2008" which leaves them plenty of time to set up their shield cutting machines to make thicker/thinner/whatever shapes to fit the upcoming 3G...

Just a few thoughts and info from an Aussie:

Apple usually ship product around Australia using TNT couriers (basically overnight).
Well you see - Monday is a holiday in Australia and TNT won't be shipping anything overnight Monday for a Tuesday delivery AND they also don't work for deliveries on a Saturday Morning - so in a small way it would seem likely that Apple may have shipped 'items' out Thursday night with an NDA so that they would have those 'items' at resellers for Tuesday.

My contact locally at Optus says they 'know nothing' but there again they are a franchise and not actually owned by Optus, and the local Vodafone is lost somewhere up it's fundamental orifice. :)

Roll on Tuesday :) It's fun reading the forums to see what someone has 'discovered' - BTW a small point on the external box shot - I wonder why the stamp is reversed? (the round one half hidden by the NDA envelope) :)

It IS a graphic and being edited in an editor. You calling it a fake is like calling renders of the iPhone on apple.com fake. The red one missing a button doesn't mean anything nor does it mean it is fake.

This new set of photo leaks look very very real to me.

Yeah it would be quite simple to make a 1st gen iphone look like that, with say a white skin or something. I would have thought if it was really the 2nd gen they would show us the screenshots of the firmware to confirm it.

Im not convinced, but i do reckon that it will look very similar to the 1st gen in appearance.

- the packaging is wrong for the size of the phone.

- there is a palce for the letter in the box?!

- whats with the ofther free space? That packaing wouldn't surive a 500 mile travel.

- the Camera Dot is wrong perspective, third the light sensor is missing, would be far more noticeabel on silver.

- Is the letter even printed blue? Look on the logo on it :S I know the Apple mail paper, its far diffrent in any place of apple inc..

- The CD in the package has no enclosure. Looks like a empty cheap DVD-R

-The bocklet is loose in the box? Where does it belong, iphone? If it would be in the iphone box with diffrent size, apple would not handle a booklet of that size for NDA just show units.

I agree with all your points. It is not like Apple to make such a massive box for its products. Apple is known for squeezing the product into as little packaging and compact as possible.
