Ok, I have a source from inside of AT&T that has learned some informaion that it wioll be released soon. At firsat he said this week, but he has a tendency to speak before he thinks. Then he said June 1, so in about 9-10 days. Now I have read an article that it will be released June 9 on the WWDC keynote. Whenever it is released, it is going to be very soon, within 4 weeks!!! It's almost here so start selling those iPhones and iPod Touches for the new 3G iPhone!! And another friend said that you might be able to trade in current iPhones and some money to get the new one? I doubted it but do you think this could be true?

After a focus on many rumors and sources my estimate is a week- /half after its announced on June 9th so roughly:
June 16th - June 20th
Watch how close i get...... BTW i dont think youll see it on the 9th Steve Jobbs not gonna say its available now, then everyone runs to an apple store to find 3G iphones as much as i wish it was true

i hope its released soon here on Vodafone New Zealand and they wont say "AT&T get in in 1 week and everywhere else in 6mths"

Dont worry Mr X I am sure someone will be happy to import it if they have it. Despite how crazy America is nowadays some of us still have love for Europe :). I hope it has great battery life for 3g, better cam (forward facing one would be the bomb) , mms (for Jesus phones sake) I also hope that this thing dosnt become the next razor or sidekick sigh......
Edit: phase 2 is in rotation....

yeah definately needs better camera if it wants to compete with N95. If it does have a good camera and a killer GPS app (with real gps and not that cheap stuff we have now) it would put the N95 out of the picture.

I am in Pakistan and a user of the 8GB iPhone, its the right time to sell my iphone considering the fact that it's going for the same price that i bought for even after 3 months :-)
Is it ok to sell it now? coz once the 3G version is released, the prices will drop sharply rite of the previous phones?
Oblivion, if the second gen comes locked as the first one with no option to buy it unlocked at a premium and not officially available in your country, then you have to wait until it's unlocked... But yes, once the 3G is unlocked the current model price will take a nosedive... Well, I did sell my first gen a month ago to tell you the truth, but going back to my old thick phone with physical buttons feels awful..., so I feel like getting a new iphone (first gen) for a while if the new model turns to be hard to crack... And then if unlock is found I can always gift my first gen model and get the 3G... :)

Well i got my current phone through a freind from the US and he unlocked it. So i guess when the new model arrives, people would be dying to get it unlocked one way or the other ;)
You bet geohot-types will start messing with the thing the moment they get their hands on it! However, IF Apple wants to make it tough to unlock it can set it up with a new bootloader fixing all known exploits. It took, what, nearly 3 months to soft unlock the latest 4.6 BL.... Think how long it'll take to beat the new one if Apple doesn't change its policy...

Yeah, that is the one thing that I am concerned about when it is released, is it jailbreakable.

hola amigo, yea apps will range from free to up to 5$ i belive old jobs said this in the keynote ^^

I believe that o2 in the UK have pretty much said that they'll be actively encouraging people to upgrade to the new model, via trade in with reduced handset cost. At&t will most likely offer a similar deal.

My cousin works at ATT and he Text me the other day and told me he was told by ATT that the release day will be June 16th. He told as soon as he found out information he would pass it along... and this is the first thing he's heard about the new iphone... so may be true

what are you complaining about? you made $100 more than what you paid. i didn't go greedy and just sold it for $480 BIN on ebay.
I am trying to sell my iphone this week before the 3G one came out. I am an AT&T customer.
Can I swap out the iphone SIM and use it on a regular cell phone for both calls and data? Will AT&T find out?
I appreciate for any recommendations. Thanks in advance.

they don't care. but your phone must be able to support gsm, which is the network that at&t uses.
