View Full Version : iPhone with Pioneer Car Adapter?
I can see the tracks, switch songs, etc on my car stereo using the Pioneer car adapters (The external ones that connect via ipbus)
My only problem is:
1) I have two different revisions of this iPod adapter in two different cars, and neither will charge my iPhone!
2) Both display the 'Unsupported accessory, would you like to turn Airplane mode on?' message. I do get the white 'Ipod accessory' screen when the adapter is plugged in (I don't get the Pioneer logo though)
My question is, wtf can't I charge my iphone through the dock adapter??

Maybe because iPhone is not supported. Only iPod etc.
The thing is, it's using a DOCK connector, which is (or used to be) standardized. If the pin for power changed, you would probably end up frying something when you used the wrong accessory. I don't see Apple doing something like that. They use a single uniform connector for their iPods/iPhones...

I'm curious if you experience very low sound, i did by testing pionner units at the store ; don't remember if it charged though ...

I am using the 1st generation Pioneer Ipod car adapter and it works and charges fine. I get the dialog sating it is not compatible, then it starts to play. I did notice that it takes about 30 seconds until the charging icon appears in the upper corner.

yes it does charge, hook up your iphone when it is only half charged, after a while you will see that the battery icon will show that it has been charged. i usually ignore the warning. just my two cents.

I have the same, I thought like you it didnt charge even though the battery shows charging but it didnt seem to charge then I realized the iphone is slow as hell in charging. I kinda remembered where the green was on the screen by refrencing it to a color or mark, and let it charge for 30 minutes then checked it and it did show that the battery did get charged ... even though not much but it was charging .. i contacted apple and they said it can be charges with any ipod charger.
