[1.1.4] Can't restore phone

I just got my phone yesterday and hasn't even been activated yet. I just wanted to play around with it first and just test it out. I upgraded it to 1.1.4 software then I used iPlus 2.0b to unlock jailbreak and activate my phone. It seemed to go good when I connected my phone to computer to sync my music it started to sync it. It froze when it was syncing so I tried to holding the top and the home screen button till it restarted.

Now my phone just shows the cord and the itunes symbol. When I connect to my phone says its recovery mode and needs to be restored. I've tried all the versions of firmware and I can't get any of them to work. I've put it into the DFU mode and tried installing all of them. It either freezes or get error 6 mostly.

I've tried to use IBrickr. It shows the green screen when I click on the Boot phone. When I try to downgrade, I get the error 6. I've tried using Ziphone using all the stuff on there to try to get anything to work and nothing.

What can I do to fix it? I've been reading different things for the past day trying everything and I haven't found anything that works yet. I have the latest version of Itunes in stalled too. If I returned it to the store do they send it back before you get another one? I bought it from ATT online. I don't want to return it if they can tell I've done stuff to it.

Well try to call AT&T if you use it officially.... becaurse it may be hardware problem though...

Can't speak for then but they have a pretty good tutorial on re-flashing the baseband to fix no wifi/no BT problems .

did u restore it to 1.1.4 ? try to manually put the phone in dfu mode and restore in itunes

Yeah I tried to do that. I deleted the one off itunes and redownloaded it when I try to install I keep getting error 6 when it installs after about 5 mins. I restart itunes after everytime I try to restore. Everytime it shows it is in restore mode on itunes.

Or try at other computer... You have trouble with iTunes...
If you on Mac don't forget delete all files (plist files etc)

I have the latest itunes. I have tried 2 different computer. I either get an error 6 or it shows it loading for 30 mins before I finally stop it.

I have a factory 1.1.1 jailbroken and upgraded to 1.1.4 . The phone was working fine until yesterday when it crashed and all i could see after reboot was an apple logo with spinning wheel. I have restored the phone quite many times ( with 1.1.4 firmware ) and it used to work fine after the restore and unlock (by ziphone) . But this time after the restore when the phone boots it is still stuck on the apple logo with spinning wheel. I tried the restore in DFU mode as well but to no use... The phone doesnt boot up after the restore (by itunes ) . I dont know what I did wrong this time. Please help ...This think is getting on my nerve now ... have already spent hours doing this.
I even tried restoring it on a different machine but no use. I got the same problem. have I hit a hardware bug or something. I am on an xp machine

bro turn the iphone of then back on when the apple logo appears plug the it in the computer and hold the home key it. try to restore the iphone in itunes to the latest version. if it didnt work try to use ziphone normal boot or ibrickr to boot it if it doest work with ibrickr and the phone is not red directly restore it by itunes then boot it again with ibrickr it happened to me once hope this will help

I can't figure out how to do this part 3. Upload the files (bbupdater, ienew, secpack, ICE04.02.13_G.eep, ICE04.02.13_G.fls) to the iPhone via SFTP or SCP to /usr/bin

I am trying to restore it to 1.1.4 and have done it like a dozen times in the past . It used to boot nomally after the restore but this time its not coming up . All i can see is the apple logo which after a while turns into apple logo with spinning wheel. I have tried all the option:

Restore via itunes to 1.1.4

DFU mode via ziphone and then restore to 1.1.4

Try unlocking via ziphone ( even then the iphone doesnt boot up)

normal mode via ziphone ( no use still doesnt boot up ). This time it shows the DFU mode screen with the spinning wheel (this was a new one for me )

So basically i am so badly stuck and have run out of all the options at the moment. I am going insane :mad:

did u press the home button while the phone is booting. and try to downgrade to 1.1.1 or 1.0.2 but first try ibrickr its the best tool fot debugging the boot up

i didnt touch the phone when it was booting after restore. In the mean time i tried downloading the fresh firmware from itunes and try the restore and the phone did came to life but as soon as i unlocked it using ziphone the phone hung on the lock screen. When i did the hard boot (couldnt do the soft boot since the touch screen was hung) the same problem reappeared - apple logo with spinning wheel.
I am not trying my hands with ibrickr. During the dygnostic provided by ibrickr the screen turned red which according to ibrickr is normal if the phone is booting but the screen was stuck at that and nothing happening. I am so confused to why this is happening. Now i will try downgrading it to 1.0.2 and see if that is of any use

yea try to downgrade then revirginize it but if ibrickr is turning ur iphone red that means u have to wait until it will debug it try to wait longer if it didnt work good luck in downgrading :)

Have same problem. Cant restore any firmware as i get error message after a while and iPhone disaperas from iTunes..

Have tried dozens and dozens of times on 2 computers and a mac book. always same frustrating result.

Already considered to go to Apple store where i bought it last week. Any idea whether thats recommendable?

i tried upgrading the firmware to 1.1.4 and it gave me an error. so i just applied all the locks on the iphone via ziphone.. and the unlocked it ... try doing it ..

When ever I time using ziphone, no matter what I pick it goes past the time it says to stop the process. I'm probably going to go to a apple store if i get some time to do it today since its kinda far.

Hey thanks... I got the phone in the factory state finally. It worked for me. Now i have unlocked it as well... phew ... after 11 hours or trying its finally alive... Thanks a ton :) I hope it doesnt get to that state again.

I got it back to refurbished state ( Restored all locks ) using the ziphone before trying the restore to 1.1.4 again and it worked for me

I'd reccomend using ziphone instead, fully automatic, only needs you to download a program and click 3 times! www.ziphone.org

sorry but ziphone not good if you have bootloader 4.6. Ziphone downgrade bootloader to 3.9 Orig. So you can' t get it back to 4.6.

Well I finally got my iphone to restore after 4 different computers and 12 hours of restoring. I had to keep restarting it and watch it slowly increase when it was restoring the software.

Spoke too soon. My phone doesn't sync with my computer and made me restore again. Still getting errors. Called Apple have an appointment to get a new phone today.

ietrouea iphone, i was restoring it when the soft stay at the third bar, i disconnect it and reconnect and restart the itunes7.6.1 but no success to restore it. the iphone is in dfu mode, sometime it gives error 9, restart itself. cannot flashed completly.

could be a hardware issue? sometimes there are just some circuits that fuse out. If nothing works, take it to an apple store and if it wont turn on and u say it got fucked in a restore they will replace it because they wont b able to tell if its hacked or not :)

The same stupid problem resurfaced today. Out of the blue my phone got stuck when i was still on a call ( which was very annoying ) and then when i hard booted the same stupid problem of apple logo with spinning wheel . Then I tried restoring but the phone never booted after the restore. It keeps hanging at the same point and all i see is apple logo with spinning wheel.... I cant understand why a fresh restore would lead me to a problem... Its so irritating :mad:

I just had that, updating iTunes to 7.6.2.9 solved my problem, hope it helps you!

If your using a downloaded firmware it may not work try restoring through itunes. And when u restart after the screen goes blank immediatly release the 2 buttons then push the top one down. If u push the middle one down and turn it on while doing that it goes into recovery mode.

i m on firmware 1.1.4. i restarted my iphone after installing a program called KATE..
the apple logo appeared and then suddenly the text started scrolling down.. and it stopped on a line where its written :/root#
te page shows my hardware version and stuff... i cant do anything with it.. it wont even get detected in itunes...

same here im trying to restore a brand new iphone. my cousin hit restore right before he handed to me. so im assuming it restored it 2.0. so when i tried to restore it 1.1.4 it wont let me. it fired an error saying it couldnt restore the iphone due to an unknown error 20. could you guys help me?

Help!!! My iphone just started freakin out, just shows recovery mode icons onscreen with no slider. when i plug it into computer itunes wants to restore it. I did this now its lock. strange thing is, is that when i input *3001#12345#* it wont even show me what firmware it restored to. Tried using ziphone but it keeps freezing going into restore mode.

i plugged my unlocked iphone 2g with t-mobile to itunes on my pc and it updated it
now it is factory spec locked and only at&t sim cards how do i put it back to it's previous configuration hopefully with all my old data intact please please help
