Congrats to DevTeam.... now my question to MN and devteam is that is it possible to show a firmware select window when the phone boots up? is there any sort of way to show a screen like we are accustomed to on our PCs when we have 2 os on the same machine
Uhm. (Insert curse word here).
I now have a bricked touch. It's... bricked, like seriously, it doesn't work anymore. When you restore it, it reboots right back into recovery. fsboot doesn't boot it. I had finished the first couple of steps up until the command "reboot", and it rebooted straight to recovery. The given iPHUC commands didn't boot it. I restored it with iTunes, and as I said, it rebooted back to recovery. Then I restored again, same thing. I'm currently trying to restore it with XCode.
Now what the hell do I do? Any geniuses from the dev team want to help me out? :/
P.S. I think it could be that I used the wrong fdisk - I couldn't find fdisk in the 1.0.2 ramdisk (maybe it's only in the 1.1.1 one?), so I used the one from the dev team soft upgrade assuming it was the same thing. Maybe it wasn't? Although I don't see how a messed up partition table could cause a brick. Or could it? Meh.
UPDATE: XCode failed as well.

One very very nice thing about the s5l CPU boot sequence in the iPhone/iPod Touch (as opposed to the S-Gold CPU boot sequence in the iPhone) is that it is always recoverable, even when it doesn't look like it :) DFU restore is very powerful, even when playing around with filesystem partitions.
A true DFU restore will unjam you and you'll be left with fresh system. If you want instead to debug your current situation and not simply get your device working again, you can try setting your boot-partition to 0 and your boot-args to simply -v (and then the obligatory auto-boot true and cmd saveenv)
That being said, IRC is probably a more suitable/interactive place to debug your particular situation.

I think at one point the lot of us were confused and misguided, but if it is as you said about him kissing zibris ass then I guess we cannot really trust him as much as we can zibri. I think the lot of us know he still has his fanboys here who are with him to the max, so i guess we are going to see the lot of em crawl back to no? The only thing now is will the dev team supporters welcome them back? I really hope this whole zibri thing does not tear us apart

maybe we should be nice and trust them after all zibri had them fooled. Besides they were with us from the start it would be nice to had them back to there normal selves and not as z pawns. Besides the more people we have against apple the better. We should give this serious thought as a commuinty before making a rash choice.....

AriX, as I said to you on the phone, I would help you repair/replace that broken Touch (at least at a discount), on the condition that I speak to your parents. Why? Because you are 13, and its clear that somewhere along the line you did not get a few lessons in being a truthful and responsible person.
Z00L has a more complete log of the 26th of Feb, I'm sure. But this was passed to me (the "he" in the first line is Zibri, of course). I also have a record of the advice given to you by our mutual friend SJobs, after you said this:

The dev team is not running a 'multinational' business with iPhone unlocking. That alone gives it credibility. There is nothing wrong with soliciting and receiving donations, but what's happening at Zibri's blog is unadulterated greed.
There are many hacking communities before iPhone but this is the first time there has been this mad aggressive rush for donations, and we don't have to go far, look at osx86, there are tons of people working on that, modded drivers, efi etc but you won't find this sort of mad rush for donations. Its all about curiosity, doing it for satisfaction, money cannot be the motivating driver for this.
Zibri's has made life easier for lots of people before iPlus was released and there is probably a lesson there for the dev team, but that should not take from the fact that he took other people's code and released it without the owners permission, that's theft and worse, betrayal. How many Zibri supporters would like that happening to them. None, but since its not your code and hard work and nothing is at stake you can afford to support Zibri without batting and eyelid with vacuous justifications.
This is not the end, 114 is not the end, people will have to keep working on unlocking other firmwares with new exploits and new code untill Apple change its marketing strategy, and since Zibri has himself admitted he can't code who is going to come up with these new hacks? You needs groups of people to co-operate to get this done, and its clear no one from the dev team will be co-operating with him after his filching their code.

First there is no fighting, just stating facts and putting things in perspetive.
Apple is not the enemy, Apple is the one that made that made a beautiful innovative device and we hope they continue to do so. Their control freakery and marketing strategy is a different thing.
Hacking it is borne out of curiosity, the desire to see if it can be done and to thwart Apple's attempts to promote a closed device. Not because Apple is some sort of enemy.

The dual-boot method in svn was the last thing Zibri had access to before his fame and $$ motives became obvious and he was cut off. It was his last possible steal, hence his pretentious protest above.

But for 1.1.4 and 1.1.3 I had to find new offsets new patches..
And I had to make the whole thing safe.

then you did the same back to them..
then you told everyone someone EMAILED you decrypted stuff.

I agree some what but sometimes teams fight and they gotta work it out, i only hope that you guys work it out and do whats best for the community and put egos and what not aside. As for you Zibri like i said before if can demo what you said then i am sure you will earn some respect back, but at this point its best to put all the bullshit down rejoin the dev team if possible and keep apple in check like a bitch. Until then its going to be kinda hard to accpet what you say, wish it wasnt that way but it is sadly enough it is..........

yea law you make a great point. I don't see why all this is necessary. If the goal is to provide an unlock for the public, and to bypass/eliminate Apple's new technology they develop, why in the world are we as non-apple workers debating over who gets money or who did what.
Why not work together as a team? Don't worry Zibri, i'm sure if your as talented as you say you are, you won't have a problem getting your name recognized. Fighting on hackint0sh does absolutely NOTHING. Think about it. The time wasted on here could have gone to making a custom firmware or something else. If you think the Dual booting technique is "OLD", then develop something NEW

zibri, i firmly believe that life is not black and white, that all of us are different shades of grey.
i reckon that mistakes have been committed on both sides and that no one can take a "Holier than Though" stand.
Again, i intend this as just a comment, and not as a personal attack,
but i think that it is very easy to assemble a team, but very difficult to keep it togather.
There were differences between you and your former team members, those differences SHOULD have been sorted out amicably.
Maybe your team members wanted a team member and not a team leader.
It saddens all of us to see great minds fight.
i hope and pray that this madness ends soon.

I'm not a fan of Zibri at all... as I said, but we read many posts about ethics....then a sticky thread with a fake version of his blog was posted, and now this... which is pretty pathetic, if I may say...still funny though, if you are aware that it is not him talking, but just some guy trying to make him look like a piece of sh.t in every possible way ;)

Well.. I would be glad to have talented people in my team. At the moment my "team" is myself, aside from translators and site maintainers.
I also offered geohot to be hosted on ziphone.org and be credited and donated in his own page. I got no answer from him.

Clearly, my evil but lesser-intelligent self, the irony of your praise of pspsully's post is lost on them. They do not see the twisted circular logic that occurs when:
pspsully 1) is mad at Dev Team for not giving out their code 2) praising the Elite team for their work and 3) praising you for leaking it.
You 1) you take credit for the code pspsully wanted from the Dev Team 2) you destroyed the Elite team and 3) are now calling the Dev Team jerks because they are giving out information that will "help Apple" (just like leaking the ramdisk exploit helped Apple).
As for not getting an answer from GeoHot, I guess we've forgotten to read our own logs. Fortunately, GeoHot has been kind enough to provide the conversation on his blog http://lpahome.com/geohot/zibri.txt so there is even more beautiful logic, where the Dev Team is being defended for not releasing the code (which was later leaked at the convenient time).
Were I not so brilliant, not even I could keep up! ;)

By the way, the pmd0 argument is gone in 1.2.0, so he's flat out lying when he claims ziphone "has been proved" to work on 1.2.0. Zibri loves lies.
Also, all of those posts and not a single one of my questions answered (admit stealing anysim3, Jerry, etc). Zibri loves misdirection.

Storm in a tea cup, I wish all the egos would remember that 90% of users dont even know who the dev team or zibri are, people just find the easiest hack, download it and thats it.
What we should be worrying about are the guys in crappy little stores charging people 50 pounds/dollars to unlock their phones. If the devs concentrate on making all the developments that come out really safe and easy for the general public (read GUI's and beta testing) then that will garner public acceptance that the phone can be jailbroken by anyone, this will equate into more donations for everyone involved.

Zibri's claim that JerrySim was there to make money is a lie meant to deflect his reckless leak of Zf's code. Anyone following JerrySim knows that it was being targeted towards $5 simcards like fun card and silvercard, as opposed to the t*sim cards.
Zibri also tried in his own incompetent coding style to impugn the team's motives by adding a "let's do this for the money" string to his leaked version. Viper (who is still an ally to Zibri) saw right through that (because Viper had the original source) and had to remove it himself, as shown here (http://tinyurl.com/2ypd3b)

Zibri ziphone doesn't work on 2.0 btw i tried it, even going as far as wasting my time modifying the ramdisk in any possible way to get it working, and it doesn't. I know that you are trying to raise hope, but please don't make a fool of yourself. Honestly now. It is saying something if I'd feel bad to see what happens in June to a guy who makes $200/day from stolen code. Zibri, just put up something saying "Sorry guys, it seems the exploit will take a very long time to do in 1.2 and will not be worth it. I will make a soft-upgrade to help you guys out" or something like that.
We have our differences, but I honestly do not like seeing all of these newbies getting false hope.

It's true i used other programs in ziphone 1.0 (and i never hided that!).
But for 1.1.4 and 1.1.3 I had to find new offsets new patches..
And I had to make the whole thing safe.

then you did the same back to them..
then you told everyone someone EMAILED you decrypted stuff.
I then told you I had a way to decrypt anuything even before the KEY extraction (another thing *I* did using the same exploit ziphone is currently based on).

The dual-boot method in svn was the last thing Zibri had access to before his fame and $$ motives became obvious and he was cut off. It was his last possible steal, hence his pretentious protest above.
