Hello,

Yesterday I bought a brand new MacBook (black) for iPhone development. The new MacBook does not seem to have XCode installed.

Question:

Does the iPhone SDK install XCode?

If not, should I install XCode from the MacBook Install CD, or should I download it?

Thanks!!

iPhone SDK = XCode 3.1 with iPhone Support

Thanks!! Glad I didn't install XCode 3.0.

One more question, please:

I'm new to Macs and have never installed anything on them. Once I have the SDK DMG file, how do I Install it?

Thanks.

double click it. a DMG is a Disk iMaGe :)
It will open up like a little disk, and you can then double click the package installer it contains.

Glad to see so many people plan on starting iPhone dev. I haven't done any dev for Mac since the Finder 6 days (still remember those volumns of Inside Macintosh books).

Does anyone know of any good iPhone SDK developer community? I work as developer as day job using C# with .net framework, and found using Objective C a pretty brand new experience. I would like to chat with other folks who are also new to Objective C but was excited by the possibility of doing awesome app with iPhone OS 2.0 (mainly because of the new input mechanism like multitouch, motion sensitivity...).

Well, will watch more dev video from Apple and then try to write a simple Cocca app tonight ....
