As demoed today, the developer can load all applications onto their iphone to test them via the SDK.
so instead of selling/giving your software thru the appstore (which means no apps like anysim) can't we just give out the source code so those with a mac and the SDK can load the apps onto their iphones for free avoiding the appstore? (which means apps like anysim)
does this make sense and is this possible? anybody know?

yes you could do that, altenativlly if the api for installer is made avalible (to work with the new SDK) then they could in theory be installed using installer
of course this is in theory, since not everyone who has an iphone has a mac, doing it that way would be easier,

Actually, you need a provisioning profile to install apps on the phone. This is what the $99 fee is for, as far as I can tell.
What we need is someone to share their key and provisioning profile. The only problem I can see is that key is central the system, so we can't use that provisioning profile without all using the same key. And that is really, really insecure. If someone can figure a way around that, it would be awesome. Otherwise, we'll just have to live rely on jailbreaks for the time being.

While you could do that in theory, I got the impression from the keynote that you needed a $99 iPhone Dev license to actually load apps onto your own phone to test/debug. Without the dev license, you can just write the apps and test them in the simulator on the mac.

yeah, you're right.
that's what my first experiences with the sdk were...
and you need an official activated phone, xcode knows the difference :/

So has anyone paid the $99 for a dev account and tested the ability to run on the phone? Or is that option not available yet. Couldn't really tell from the keynote.

No, it's not that. You need a provisioning profile. It's in the Development Environment part of the documentation: http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/navigation/Tools/DevelopmentEnvironments/index.html And you get that after you pay the $99.

yeah, that, too.
but the xcode device-organizer says "This device is not activated. Please activate it using iTunes."

The SDK license agreement appears to prohibit other distribution methods.
