EDGE connection

Hi all,

Just a quick question as I'm contemplating the idea of using a TurboSIM in order to use my iPhone with my French provider:

Is the iPhone EDGE connection always on or does it actually only connect to the network for Data when needed (this is important for me as my provider bills me by the time I am connected and not the Kb or Mb I'm using).

It defaults to always on when there is no WiFi connection.

You can stop it, though. 1 method is to change the APN name to something invalid, and only correct it when you want to go online.
