Hi Guys,
Some ppl were complaining about not being able to lock certain applications, or photos, etc...
How difficult would it be for a password application to be created?
i'm thinking something that is just a screen with a password prompt, and basically we would alter the springboard plist to call that particular app instead of say SMS, and then the password application would launch the SMS application when a good password is entered.
I realize it isnt a real lock, and someone with iphone experience can undo that and access SMS, but it will be enough for regular ppl...
I guess this would also depend on finding out the correct way to launch apps from within apps right?

You know, iPhone does have a password lock option. You just lock the phone, and before it will unlock, you have to enter a 4 digit code. That's what I use...
IMO, System Wide Lock > Individual Application Lock

itd be annoying to have to enter in a passcode whenever you launch a new app. i agree, the system lock is all you really need.

system wide lock sucks imo... i just dont want ppl going into my sms, just like the triplets motorola os had a per-app password option...
and its not at every new app launch, it would be configured... if you have private photos on the phone, that could be a use. how do you stop ppl from seeing these private photos when they are your "friends" and want to see how the iphone works?

That's actually a good idea...
It would be easy. Just make a program that launches any program after you enter a password. Then, set it up to have the SMS icon, be in the SMS's slot on the screen, and launch the SMS program after you enter the password...

What I was always surprised about is that Apple did not make the "lock" like an actual padlock with a circular dial. It could just be a possible option for people who want something that looks a little different from the "keypad" method.
Personally, I think that it would be cool to have a multi-touch feel for the whole thing.
On the same note, I am surprised that Apple did not make it so that one can scroll two wheels at once in the Clock and the Calendar applications.

Admit it, what are you hiding ?
Are you cheating on your girlfriend ?? :D
He could be hiding his intimate chat with his PRIMARY girlfriend from his friends... that doesn't mean he's not cheating on her anyway... :)
P.S. Kidding, of course...
Actually I liked that option in some phones as well. It really sucks when your friends tend to run the SMS app while taking a look at the phone.

Write 100 times:
"I will NOT put amateur home pr0n on my iPhone"
"I will NOT put amateur home pr0n on my iPhone"
"I will NOT put amateur home pr0n on my iPhone"
...
