Disadvantages of 3.9BL vs 4.6BL

So last night I hardware unlocked 2 1.1.2OTB phones for my girlfriend and me. Case took a bit of cosmetic damage but I didn't worry too much about it.

After I was done, I go online and find Geo's software unlock released! What timing...


Anyways, I'm just wondering if there is any advantage/disadvantage of the two methods (besides having to open the phone/possible physical damage) in terms of reliability, upgradeability, "completeness" of unlock, etc.

The main disadvantage of the new bootloader is that you cant play with the baseband and thats the main reason why we cant unlock the phones. So you didnt do everything for nothing its better to downgrade the bootloader then to do only this unlock :)
