Many of us are in a position where our iphones have been re-booted or restored before the hardware unlock has completed. (resulting in repair needed text)

However i am aware from my browsing that there are a handfull of people who have successfully fixed problems and either restored back to an itouch to await a software unlock or have gone on to complete the hardware unlock.

No doubt if you have succeded in this you had support from others and have devised your own tips tricks an methods.

This is the thread to share those solutions

NB please keep solutions in this thread simple and easy to understand. The liklihood is that if you have bricked your iphone its because you misunderstood a post in the first place!

i thought i bricked my iphone when i shut it off after ienew to go to sleep and turned it on the next day to find a "repair needed" message. i started freaking out and sweating, but i realized that you could just continue with the unlock from where you left off. all you do is just skip the ienew part. do only unloading the commcenter and changing directory to /usr/bin. then run sleep 30; iunew and connect the testpoints. worked perfectly. i was so happy to see testpoint works 55 on my screen. press x and return and let it download the nor. restore to 1.1.2, restore to 1.1.1, jailbreak, install oktoprep, update to 1.1.2, jailbreak and you're basically done!

note: if you're following the i.unlock.no tutorial, don't deal with the last step where it tells you to run bbupdater -f 111.fls or whatever the heck it was. it doesn't work so just do the traditional restore, restore, oktoprep, update method i listed above.

I got the "repair needed" message after getting a "baseband is unresponsive to pinging" message. I got no ICCID, no IMEI, no Wi-Fi, no sound. I just restored to 1.1.2 and everything worked out great! Everything was back to normal... so I could go on unlocking :D

I had the Repair Needed after the H/W unlock cuz something failed during the process... I was able to get back my IMEI/Sound/ICCID/WIFI upgrading to 1.1.3 but now I'm scew to wait for 1.1.4 and use it as an ITouch

but hey, thats better than a 500$ paperweight

Well Ive started doing it right after the hardware method got out and i didnt install terminal so I was using ssh to write the commands... And after a while the wifi went off and I couldnt do anything... Ive restored it to 102 but couldnt install the things from iBrickr and also didnt know how to manually download the pxl files... So my only option was to restore to 113. And now waiting for 114.
Actually Ive tried to corrupt the baseband by installing anysim1.2.1u and running it... Now I have no IMEI but wifi works. Ive tried the testpoint but it still gives me the Did you clear the flash firs? So I we have to wait for 114... I hope after the 16 GB is out maybe there will be a new FW.

I screwed my baseband by dowloading and accidentally running 'baseband downgrader' on my 112. After that I lost my wifi, no IMEI and all that stuff.
I am not even able to downgrade to 111. Life became miserable. I looked around different sites and was finally able to solve the situation.

To tell briefly... I successfully downgraded to 102 and then installed all the necessary apps+files and then downgraded the bootloader using ienew+iunew as explained in the main tutorial. After downgrading bootloader, i directly restored to 112 using itunes. I got my wifi back. Then the path is 112->111->jailbreak+activate->oktoprep->112->jailbreak->anysim. You will have unlocked phone.

I started writing a detailed blog on this. But it is partially complete as of now. Take a look at this post [http://gadgetsandyou.blogspot.com (http://gadgetsandyou.blogspot.com/2008/02/hardware-unlocked-my-112-ootb-iphone.html)]for summary and the later ones for detailed instructions.

Hi!

I have some questions for those of you guys who fixed the erased baseband problem (no wifi, no imei, etc) on an 1.1.2 OTB phone (BL4.6) by upgrading to 1.1.3 from iTunes.

Here they go:

When you upgraded to 1.1.3 to fix it, you phone still had the 4.6 bootloader or was it downgraded to 3.9?

You did an upgrade to 1.1.3, or a restore?

Was the phone in DFU mode, or was it started normally?

Thank you very much in advance to all of you for your answers!

HI im also an i brckr :D

well this happened to me i was at the unlock OTB 1.1.2 HW
first i unloaded commcenter
second ienew
and after that i waited a little bit
and the phone restarted
i freaked out and ran the commands again
but it didnt worked i dont remember the output

after that i did the testpoint but it didnt worked it said reading 0 instead of 54 and got stuck at dwnloading modified nor,

after that i restored to 1.1.2 and i lost wifi, imei, ccid, everything so i guess i just dont have a baseband,

now here comes the trouble back in 1.0.2 i cannot jailbreak it using ibrickr i get endless reboot cycles
what should i do to get into the phone and start over?
thanks

sers...

i have probably a bricked phone too.

at first, i followed the tutorial for hardware unlocking very carefully...

all steps that i'm doing, shows the correct instances like the tutorial.

so, the last, and the important step - erase with ierase, and afterwards, to flash the new nor file - are corrupted.

the file was written (so i think so) and after that, a message follows that the crc checksum ar not correct.

so it was 12h at night, and i turned off the phone - next day, i wanna do it in the same way, but, nothing happens with the phone.

i restored it to 1.0.2 - and 1.1.1 - and again 1.0.2

so i can upload some files via ibrickr, but i have no possibilities, to execute some commands, esp. load some files via the installer, cos no wifi, no modem...

i tapped general, about, and the entry for modem and wifi are empty.

so, it's really unpossible, that i can unlock the phone ?

after booting the phone, a message appears, that i must connect to itunes, no telefon functions avaiable.

i guess, that the nor file was from the begin are corrupted.

so, i thought, that ibrickr unload the apple.CommCenter, so i can't do this, before starting the ierase, and then the unlock...

have some guys here any idea, for the troubleshooting ?

To get rid of the endless cycle (had the same problem when i downgraded to 1.0.2 with ibrickr) is to put it into DFU mode and restore it to 1.1.1 using itunes v 7.5+ ......not v7.3.......it will get u out of the endless cycle and put ur phone to 1.1.1 screen when u will get "repair needed" message.

Basically, like me u got a brick......u can either try upgrade it to 1.1.3 or try to get apple to replace it. Im trying the later b4 restoring to 1.1.3.

Bon Chance.

Hey guys,
I've done something really stupid.
I followed the steps at http://iphone.unlock.no/,
and when I was almost done (I was at the step that you have to run AnySIM)
I ran AnySIM, but accidently locked the phone when I picked it up of the table.
Now I restarted AnySIM but it stops before completing the unlock.
Any suggestions? Should I rewrite the baseband? Thank you.
