I had a similar problem with bluetooth settings - the "bluetooth" option had just disappeared from Settings>general.

I solved it by running preferences.app from the command line. i.e. Launch Settings (preferences.app) normally via SpringBoard, then ssh into your phone, run "ps ax" and copy the line that contains ...Preferences.app/... Now quit Preferences.app on the phone and paste the text you copied on the command line. hit enter.
Settings will launch on the phone and you will now see any errors that the application generates via stdout.
For me, the errors came from a corrupted file that was part of the Bluetooth settings. I replaced the file via one I extracted from the 1.1.2 restore image and, voila, my "bluetooth" option was back in the settings again.

Obviously you problem is different but it would probably be worth trying what I am suggesting to see if the missing Edge button is due to a corrupted file.
