I tried moving it to private/var and var/mobile but nothing. It just takes space from the disk1 partition. As anyone figured out a work around

i keep seeing mention of using BossTools for this need, but still have not seen any clarification as to whether it works w/ both versions of the 1.1.3 JB. does it work w/ the official dev release as well, it is written to know where to place the symlinks if you are running as user mobile instead of root? there is a really big difference there, so if anyone could clarify it would be appreciated... i am at a standstill due to lack of space on my root partition and do not want to have to restore again, still looking for a definitive answer as to exactly how i should move my apps folder w/ the official dev 1.1.3 JB package...

thx for your reply piranha, so this works w/ the official dev release as well? the /applications folder doesn't need to be moved to /mobile, it still works properly in /root?

Well.. The system uses /Applications - which will be a symlink to /var/root/applications/ - so that shouldn't break anything.
The system and apps will be able to use /Applications regardless where they actually are.
And yes, I use official 1.1.3 dev release.

yea i dont use bosstools. I just do it using winscp. Anyways I figured out it wasn't the problem. The problem was perl and php taking up space on disk1. Where is perl and php being installed. So, I can move those to disk 3

upgraded to 1.1.3 using the dev team upgrade method. Installed Bosstools 0.35 from the modmyifone source and moved fonts, ringtones and apps to the media partition. Bosstools says I now have 100Mb free on the OS partition and now able to install apps with installer.
