Facts (please correct me if i am wrong):
- iPhone checks the ICCID and IMSI of the sim and determine if they are with the same format of AT&T (for US iPhone) to determine if this is a legit sim or not.

- iPhone only check the first couple of times you insert a new sim, then it doesnt check anymore (if the iPhone checks at a random time intervals than no *sim solution would work right?)

-*sim sends the AT&T ICCID and IMSI format the first couple of times then it passes the real onces from your actual sim (Thats how you are able to bond to your operator and make calls)

if the above is true than removing the *sim after successful bind to any operator (i dont know how but say you connect it by thin wires and leave it outside the tray)
wont cause signal loss and the iPhone will still operate untill the you restart the iPhone or you remove your sim

if by any way we can do this that we wont suffer from battery drainage and slow sim communication that the *sim solution causes.

All you experts out there, do you think this can be done?

I guess the phone checks for valid ICCID and IMSI each time you boot the phone and you insert a Sim Card.

But... Let's say that the check of the inserted SIM Card is OS dependant and not linked to Baseband... We could maybe let the phone think a SIM is always inserted and thus not launch the valid SIM check routine...

I'm afraid such SIM check is located in the baseband which is untouchable unless HW unlock on 4.6BL...
