I can confirm Supersim works in Orange, though not in Era GSM (no incoming calls).

Yes, I also confirm it - incoming calls do not work in Polish Era GSM network :-(

Outgoing calls, incoming & outgoing SMS work OK.

I tested also Orange and Plus - in those two networks incoming & outgoing calls work OK.

Only Era does not work! Damn.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I unlocked the phone via the free dev team software.

The most important thing is, however, that regardless of whether you use Supersim, Turbosim or the soft unlock, you cannot receive calls in Era GSM :-(

Does anyone have any idea? Is there anyone from Era GSM that bought an iPhone? I mean someone actually working at Era :-)

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I've been using my iPhone (supersim method) for a few weeks here in Warsaw and I've had no single problem with incoming calls. And yes, I'm ERA subscriber.

You can find the exact instructions here: http://appleblog.pl/instrukcja-uruchomienia-iphone-w-polskiej-sieci-komorkowej. They've worked for me like a charm.

Hello,

yes, there have been reports that iPhone is working in Warsaw.

Unfortunately, I am from Wroclaw - I have some information that Era GSM has some strange BTS stations here, which use the 850Mhz frequency both for voice and data calls and that is what iPhone does not support.

Damn! Every other phone can do that except the iPhone. Every other phone works. Of course this is also Era's fault, but this just proves that iPhone is not as compatible with our networks as every other phone :-(

Tomorrow I will drive away from Wroclaw to check if iPhone works outside of the city. I will keep you posted.

OK, so iPhone is definitely not working in Era GSM near Wroclaw. By "working" I mean "incoming calls".

It starts working in Zielona Gora (150km from Wroclaw). It also works in Kostrzyn. There is also a report that it works in Swiebodzin.

There is also a whole thread in Polish about it: http://www.myapple.pl/showthread.php?t=43940

Here's my experience...

I have an OTB-1.1.2, week 48, USA iPhone. I bought a black StealthSim and had it shipped from Canada. It took 3 days to reach me via FedEx. I took my PlusGSM sim card and cut the corner and inserted it back into my iPhone. I could not get it to work.

I decided to try my wife's Era sim card and cut it up and tried it in my phone. Her sim card worked perfectly and on the first try.

My wife did a little digging and she was told by PlusGSM that all of their sim cards are year 2007/08. Perhaps that's the reason why it didn't work in my iphone.

So... in order to get my iPhone working I decided to get a pre-paid card from Orange. After cutting it, it worked as soon as I inserted it back into the phone with the stealth card and for the last three days I have had no issues with it.

If anyone has any questions... feel free to ask me.
