My questions are:

Has anyone got a TurboSim working?

Will this work with any operator sim (v1, v2 or v3)?

And can we post definitive instructions here, please.

well, what i believe would be cool is a step by step instructions on how to get this working, i've already ordered 2, and need help with the following:

how do i upload the new kernel in the turbo sim?

do i have to fill in some blanks on the new code or just copy/paste and let it work.

how should i put in the att sim info on the turbo sim?

and if anyone that has already got their turbo sim how are your test doing?

I think Turbo SIM and Adapter are too "thickly" for the small slot.

Shipping to Germany ( 3-Day) costs about 80 $( otherwise they ship with some other very slow service which could take up to 2 Weeks !).

Perhaps we could order more Super-Sims together, and safe shipping costs.

As far as i know there are at least 5 people from munich here.

Appears to be theoretical at the moment, but well worth a try. It seems a few people have already ordered the TurboSim - we just have to wait now to see if someone can get this to work. If so, the TurboSim people are going to be very busy :D

First version (untested, while I'm waiting for my Turbo SIM) of Bladox tools running natively on the iPhone - used to load your applications into the Turbo SIM

untested, so if you're not a developer and do not own a Bladox programmer to reflash the Turbo SIM kernel, wait for people to confirm that it works before using it - otherwise you might end up with a Turbo SIM in an unstable state.

Do not forget to read README.iPhone before using it.

If it works, it saves an additional phone to load the applications - you'll just have to put the Turbo SIM + your SIM in the iPhone, upload the Turbo SIM application (for example to /tmp/applesaft.trb) then load it with /opt/bladox/turbo-app /tmp/applesaft.trb from SSH on the iPhone, if you uploaded the tools to /opt/bladox

SchismdWell, according to bladox, there has to be the latest kernel installed:

"In the code posted by iph0wned there may be issue how EF_ICCID is handled, this is because iphone reads this file at the very begining while we are initiating the applications possibly later on, so this EF_ICCID modification may/may not be applied. The reason we do it later is that user can reset turbo device by entering TPIN at the time of SIM PIN - special PIN for reseting the device and removing potentially bad applications). To avoid this delay we just released kernel 1.2.7, for turbo sim kernel see http://www.bladox.com/pub/kernel-TSIM-1.2.7.bin.gz "

You can't update the kernel yourself, without a expensive programer.

Dragon - if you re read the forum at Bladox about the turbosim and the iphone, pz states that all you need is the turbosim, your other sim, your iphone and another phone that can be switched and used as a modem to issue AT commands.

All we need is a step by step guide on how to do this !

@dragon worst thing that can happen if you get the older kernel and cannot upgrade is that the ICCID modification won't work. This is only a minor inconvenience, it'll just add a supplementary activation step (you'll need to activate with your AT&T card then with your own subscription)

Oh and dragon - i had them Update the firmware 1.2.7 on the Turbo sim. So i shouldn't have a problem :) At least i think thats right ... let me know if im wrong :P

From my understandings: it will work. It's 99.9% the same mechanism as by supersim. I can tell you more, the day my TurboSim arrives :D

It should work with any other phone as well, if you can access it as modem (through COM-Port).

Besides that, "everybody" has an Motorola Razr V3. It's even more difficult to find a Windows PC. Have to look somewhere in the attic...

I have a razr v3, and the reason why you should use it (other than you can use it as a modem) is because you dont have to bend the SIM to place it into the socket, you just slip it into the holder, and clip the holder down. Hard to explain but long story short: the turbo SIM is pretty brittle, so it's best to use a phone where it's easy to slip in the SIM without having to force it in like on some other phones.

Just found it in another thread. You actually don't need an ATT sim:

"You can use whatever IMSI you like for the AT&T IMSI, using the following format (hex) 08 39 01 14 x0 xx xx xx xx replacing x by hex digits"

würde auch 2 Turbo Sim nehmen. Allerdings kurz noch eine Frage: Worin besteht der Unterschied zwischen der TurboSIM Lösung und der Lösung mit der Silvercard und dem Infinity Writer? Ich habe gestern bereits eine Silvercard und den Infinity USB Writer bestellt. Ist die TurboSIM Lösung die bessere und funktioniert die auch für neuere Mobilfunkkarten? Ich persönlich habe einen T-Mobile Vertrag mit einer ca. ein Jahr alten Karte...
Also ich warte auf Deine Ansage... Wie geht das mit der Bezahlung von statten? Kann ich die Karten dann in MUC abholen? Bzw. wenn Du die ersten Erfahrungen hast kannst Du das Teil gleich mit dem Phone passend machen?

If I understood correctly, than he wrote that he is not able to program the TurboSIM because he doesn't get a connection to it. But he tries it with an external programmer, not by using a mobile phone (i.e. Motorola Razr, as said in the tutorial).

So this does NOT mean that it won't work in the iPhone at the end because he didn't even manage to program it. But it definetly should be possible to program this device...

For the imsi you can use whatever IMSI you like for the AT&T IMSI, using the following format (hex) 08 39 01 14 x0 xx xx xx xx replacing x by hex digits"

ok, half good news everyone.

Got my SIM today, so I could try the code I posted earlier http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showpost.php?p=15335&postcount=16 to load the application from the phone itself. It works. So you don't need another phone.

Now for the bad news - unfortunately just after that step, the SIM jumped when opening the tray and seems it managed to cut one track (yes it was a tiny jump), because the fucker won't start anymore ... so further testing is pretty much compromised on my side. My recommendations would be to be SUPER EXTRA CAREFUL when playing with these toys, they're just too fragile :(

so here we go for a quick one

First, your phone must be activated (with the AT&T SIM), jailbreaked, and with SSH and vim. Refer to previous tutorials to do that :)

- Download the port of Bladox utilities http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showpost.php?p=15335&postcount=16 on your computer, extract it on your computer (you need the binary file turbo-app)
- Download AppleSaft 0.92 from Bladox (see the link on their forum, don't remember it), extract it on your computer (you need the .trb file)
- Turn on your phone with Turbo SIM + AT&T subscription
- Disable CommCenter - ssh to your phone, vim /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist add

- Reenable CommCenter - ssh to your phone, vim /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist and delete the lines you added previously
- Reboot
- Go into Settings/Phone/SIM Applications/Apple Saft and choose Set
- Turn off your phone
- Turn on your phone with Turbo SIM + your subscription and test :)

you need to activate with a valid token - otherwise, the radio won't be working. So use IActivator, or DVD John with the Activate & Sign server, or something else ...

By the way, I have successfully tested TurboSIM with my local carrier, and surprise surprise, it WORKS!!!

However, there is some issue with contact between AT&T card and TurboSIM, but it is not difficult to resolve.

All can be done using your iphone alone. What you need is a TurboSIM loaded with Applesaft. That's it!! And the instructions are going to be 2-3 lines!!

It's possible, but you'll need to deactivate and reactivate with another method that does not brick your phone. See the iPhone dev wiki for a summary of activation methods

The mechanical issue seems to relate to the contact between AT&T card and the TSIM. Zf_ do you have any problem with it? May be my AT&T card is somewhat different :)

I know i can take the ICCID from the box in which the iPhone came. I can also "make" and IMSI with the first few numbers required.

But would i have to do a partial unlock to the iphone first in able to use another slightly different IMSI? (aka another ATT/Cingular card)

Ok a few things. Firstly, are you able to ssh onto the iphone? if so then this is a good first step, it at least leams we can get onto the iPhone.

As for why it's saying unknown command, my guess here is it's because chmod isn't on the iPhone. When you SSH into anything and you execute a command, it's running that command from the device you are ssh'd into and not your local computer.

I looked at the files in the download on the link I posted and there is an item called chmod there, so there should, in theory, be a chmod item on the iphone.

I *think* and someone else might be able to confirm here, that we need to put the chmod command back on the phone. Not having an iPhone I can't verify or test this out, sorry.

I'm just re-reading the turbosim guide thing. looks like scp is being used to copy things onto the phone, it's possible we might be able to use this to copy chmod onto the phone, it's worth a shot, so fire up terminal and enter the following command:

scp /bin/chmod root@ipaddressofiphone:/

ipaddressofiphone = the IP address of your iphone. password should be dottie (unless you changed it)

This should copy chmod to the root of the iphone. We then need to ssh onto the iPhone, so try this:

ssh -l root ipaddressofiphone

ipaddressofiphone = the IP address of your iphone. password should be dottie (unless you changed it)

Then type chmod and press return and see what happens, if it returns something like:
usage: chmod [-fv] [-R [-H | -L | -P]] [-a | +a | =a [i][# [ n]]] mode|entry file ...

then it's good news, tells us it's on the phone and working. You would then need to copy the turbo-app and other items onto the phone, which you could do using the scp command as mentioned above. Once the files are there, you'd need to use chmod to change the permissions.

One other thing you could try, not sure if this'll work though. Is to use the chmod command on the files BEFORE copying them to the iPhone with the scp command. I created a very simply helloworld script and locally used chmod a+x to make it executable, I then, using scp, copied it to another mac I've got, and then ssh'd into that mac and checked the permission on the file and it had retained the a+x permissions, or at least it was executable via ssh by entering ./helloworld

Hi to everybody. I had ordered a Turbo Sim on Friday night. The send it out on Monday. The send from Prague. So it took abut 28 hours and the Sim arrived yesterday here in Germany. So I can confirm full working iphone. SMS in/out, calls in/out and even edge si working well via T-Mobile. Eplus is working too, except Edge, because the dont have edge networking. Turbo Sim will fit perfectly in the iphone, dont care about. SSH works with latest firmware. I only used the iphone to get the applesaft on the turbo. after that i didnt see the application in the iphone. So I took out the at&t sim and the turbo and put it in another phone (Siemens A31). I could see it there, so I stored the at&t data to the turbo in the siemens handy. I put it out and get it back to the iphone with a t-mobile sim and it works... So let me say i spend much more time to get ssh on the iphone, than get the turbo working...
