Do i need unlocked if i use At&t Sim ?

i have a brand new iphone 1.1.2. do i need to unlocked the phone so that i can use with my at&t sim or i only need to jailbreak them. thank you very much.

Threads like this make me want to cry. Please try searching before posting.

If you're going to sign up for a new contract with ATT, all you do is plug it in and follow the itunes activation. If you want to use your current att sim, you need to activate/jailbreak your phone. Once you do that, it will accept any ATT sim. For jailbreak/activation guides, I used http://i.unlock.no as my guide, and I had 0 problems.
