Just buy the iphone without any AT&T activation. All you need to do then is this: (follow the link, and you must download iTunes version 7.3.0.5 )
http://www.dvdtoiphone.org/
(scroll down til you see "Activate your iPhone in seconds")
I did it, and it works great. I live in Norway, and am using the full iphone, except the phone part. (ok, I know it is a bit pricey for an ipod/wifi/camera/movie gadget, but it is worth it)
Have fun... ;-)

I just purchased an iphone and tried out the the software at http://www.dvdtoiphone.org/, and at first it seemed to succeed, but
now the iphone says Incorrect SIM Pleas connect to itunes to reactive phone.
I tried doing a restore but still the same thing.
Any ideas?
