OPEN LETTER TO MODERATORS - STOP SANITIZING THIS FORUM

I know I'm putting my neck on this and risking being banned but I think
the moderators are being extremely inflexible and are only allowing some
misinformation and old information to get thru.
I've been following Hackint0sh/iphone forum for a long time, and I can tell
that on this last month, the forum is turning to a particular blog for the
moderators. Anything that is posted here that doesn't please their own
particular twisted ideas of iPhone news is being agressively criticized and
deleted.
I must remind you 'moderators' that 99% of the public that access this forum
is eagerly looking for any news about the iPhone unlocking. And if we don't
find any news, we ask for it (is it a sin to ask what is going on when the
last info you have about it is 1 week old????).

And that this 99% of public is also responsible for 99% of the donations...

I have a strange feeling that some information is being hidden from us.
Negative or positive, it is being hidden. It is a fact.

Perhaps dev team is waiting for someone to develop a unlocking solution
to improve it?

Or perhaps dev team has an unlocking solution but is waiting for more
donations?

All I know is that it is more than 1 month that boatloader 4.6 was released
and more than a week that dev team got their hands on a 1.1.3 firmware and
we from the community don't have nothing on our hands.

So once more for you moderators, if you want to delete all our request
for info, please start posting fresh information and we promise that we
won't post requests about what's going on.

And if nothing is going on, then there is no need to post anything...
(and we don't have any need to donate anything too)

Here we go again...

My honest opinion? I noticed that since the moderators have taken tougher measures, the forum got a lot clearer. It's not a matter of deleting old news or useless posts. It's a matter of people who are too damn lazy to read and search for answers that already have been discussed a long time ago.

I couldn't agree more. Wading through pages of garbage is a pain.

And by the way, I don't think anybody gets banned just because they are not satisfied with the moderators. That would be a dictatorship. :)

Well first I think it's good that you speak out and it's understandable that many of you guys are waiting for a solution.
Well here comes the but:
-I think it is very cool that people are devoting their time to find a software unlock, considering there is already a hardware unlock and sim simulation. Sim simulation costs no more or less 100 usd. Honestly if you can afford an iphone you can afford 100 bucks for something like turbo sim.
-Second, you should be more angry at apple for locking the phone, considering dealing with a single provider per country, for example AT&T, goes against everything that a free market stands for by dictating who is allowed to sell it and who not, and with what service it is to use with. (which apple over and over complains about with the msoft platform)
-Third, I'm actually really thank full for moderators who clean out a forum from useless info like: "a friend told me about a unlock site for btl 4.6 for just 49.99"......
-Fourth, I'm sure the dev team be making way more money flipping burgers at mc donalds then with their donations pool.
-Fifth, if there are no new then there are none, I really don't believe the dev team / hackint0sh conspiracy.

I personally couldn't wait to use my iphone as a phone and got myself a turbo sim, since I think it is really idiotic of apple to create monopolies in each country for the iphone. I hope somebody finds a software unlock for btl 4.6 very soon, so apple will loose once again with their outrageous iphone selling strategy.

And by the way what does the style of moderators have to do with unlocking? I really understand moderators getting pissed every now and then....

"Dictatorship" is very alive and thriving even today.

I Definately don't agree with this open letter.

True you are entitled to you're opinion and are free to debate it in a public forum. In my view the mods and deleting, moving etc... unwanted and or useless posts. They are not hiding anything what so ever. In actual fact they are doing a great job of keeping the forum in check.

If there was any news to report it would be reported. All you have to do is look at the multitude of other forums with iPhone related threads and you'd know that there is nothing to hide. As soon as a solution appears it will be "stickied"

Also if you bothered to read the post about the 1.1.3 work as started, you'd release that the Secpak (is that what its called) is encrypted with a rather difficult to crack encryption (if it helps I thing I seen an Enigma Machine for sale somewhere, but I doubt it will prove useful).

In summation, as soon as there is any GENUINE news to report, the mods will be notified and they in turn will let us the community Know. Just just like waiting for a product to be announced - Roll on Macworld!

Same here. Especially when the same questions are asked again and again

Bottom line is: this is not a Help Desk. This is an information sharing community.

If you don't like it - why don't you leave or find another forum???

I appreciate the mods taking the time to weed out useless crap posted in threads by people like you.

I agree generally what the OP says. The moderators are a bit too nosy these days and they should learn to relax a little bit.

I remember the goold old fun days before they toughen up their acts. And if you don't like the threads and posts, just ignore it. That's not too difficult to do.

To be honest, I think its a matter of how comfort we are with internet (forums/google(other search engines/irc/well the whole internet)

When ever I get into a problem, doesnt matter if it has to do with iphone, my car, a server or my penis... first thing to do is a google search..because most of the time someone else had the problem before you, trust me =)

so to add things up.. do some searching before you ask..not only in this forum..but lets say..google..

about the moderators deleting/editing stuff I believe this is only to make this forum a better place, its a pain in the rectum to make a search and get like 5 hits on the same thing =)

sorry for my bad english, hey..im trying =)

I think no one knows if there is a "conspiracy" or not. Something true is that when the iphone unlock is ready is very human that the dev team want some money. unfortunately all in this live is money, so think, they are not working for free!!!! they want money, money and money.

Don't forget that the Dev Team also needs to have a few iPhones to be able to go through their tests. And this involves buying devices (to replace an eventual bricked iPhone). So it's not always about profitable money.

I do feel that not enough people use search...maybe it's because English is not there 1st language...I don't know. I do agree that there are a ton of useless posts, but sometimes I like to read them for a laugh (i.e. Can I unlock my 1.1.2 otb?).

I think the mods do a great job cleaning it up and regulating the flow of useless crap like spams and sellers.

My only complaint is the way people are disrespectful to one another. Again, maybe it's because most of the poster's on this site are from all around the world and different cultures have different ways of responding to one another. But if I were truly dissatisfied with this site, I wouldn't keep coming back.

Nuff said!!!!

@c0h1b4

I dont agree with your post for these reasons:

1. Even if the Dev Team were hiding something, are they recieving wages from our taxes? No. Do they need by law to report to forum members? No. Are they accountable for anything? No.

The simple answer here is that WE DONT OWN THE DEV TEAM - Just think yourself lucky what they have done so far for us.

2. Donations - I believe the dev team can do what they want with the money, I fully trust them because they produce results.

You cant suddenly accuse them of waiting for more donations before releasing an unlock. Thats unfair, I reckon people generally donate for work already done anyways.

And finally, its a bit strange to start accusing them of things when they have done so much. "Thanks for the unlock, toolchain, jailbreak etc, but now I think your cheating me" ???? Thats odd.

As for the deleted posts, are you having a laugh? Find me another site with more upto date information than here and I will give you my hat!

Here Here

Everyone is entitled to an opinion (right or wrong) and to debate it. There is no need to flame someone on these grounds.

Posting useless, mindless posts, or blindly following what every one else says, does not add to the community. You need to be able to question what is presented and debate the facts to get to the truth. The mods allow this and provide for this.

I said it in my last post the mods do a great job. They are keeping the community in check and I am sure there is a level of legal issues that needs to be considered. I know I would not like one day to wake up and find the forum no more.

This is just business... and the dev team is working at first to earn some money, thats not unfair. We have to be realistic, they are making an amazing job.
Anyway, we will have our 1.1.2 otb unlock for free after some days of the release.

You cant please everyone right?

As for this thread, we are not going to delete it but.....you did post it in the wrong section.
There is an opinions and discussion thread where this would be more suitable.

Moving it.

Sorry.
