I was informed that the latest IPhone from the shelves are already equipped with the latest FW 1.1.3. Can anyone who had purchased an IPhone recently confirm this?

Or can anyone dispute this?

I can't confirm this as this piece of news was from a friend's friend. Furthermore, we are from the Eastern part of the world, where there's no direct source of IPhone.

yes yes yes.. i know there's the 1.1.3 FW release, it's on the sticky thread. But is it from the IPhone off the shelves? or was it just a leak from Apple?

The current 1.1.3 floating around is apparently a beta of the final and is by no means the one that will finally be making it to the public. As for 1.1.3 OTB iPhones, theres no reason for Apple to jump the gun and make these before their 1.1.2 stock becomes low. Pre installed firmwares, like Macs & OS X tend to appear a month or two after the firmware is initially released.

Conclusion: Your friend probably told you some ripe BS. (No offense to him)

just throwing in some common sense here..i'm not fully informed yet so...eh what the hell stone me for lack of knowledge if you would (as if YOU were born knowing it all!) lol. wouldn't the upgrade be available through itunes if iphone off the shelves came with it? as far as i understood they give the option to update if you have old firmware to ALL iphone owners not just to the owners of brand new ones:rolleyes:

They are not going to release 1.1.3 OTB until the 1.1.3 upgrade is available in iTunes.

They already and always have been doing like this for their computers and MAC OS X upgrades.
