Recently a user Pm'ed me asking me if anything could be done, if any help was needed.
I told him the following, something I will tell all of you that regularly visit Hackint0sh.
It got me thinking...so
Moderators are here to "direct" people in the right direction. It makes it a really unwelcoming place when you have a newcomer post something and you have people respond,
" USE THE SEARCH FEATURE!!! I HATE IT WHEN N00BS DO THIS!!! "
Be patient guys. These people, like someone said, are walk-ins. They are not regulars like yourself reading this post. If you enjoy this place, if you want people coming back and asking for help, because you yourself like helping people and feel the need to, be kind and polite. Do the people at the grocery yell at you when you ask them where water is? Or where you can find the bathroom?
No, they'd be fired if they did...or seriously reprimanded.
Point being, let's try to make this a more comfortable place for the newcomers, even if they dont speak English. English was not my first language, you know how hard it is to communicate to someone else who doesn't speak your native language? You know how much effort it takes? It takes even a bigger effort to write it down!
This is what I sent to the user...:
XianLi and myself, who seem to be the most active moderators around lately because of X-mas and new years, need eyes.
If you find a post that you see is....for lack of a better word, useless PM us with the link to that thread so we can take care of it.
If you see someone disrespecting another member, through their posts or their signatures, please let us know.
If you see people re-posting stuff that is already in the FAQ, direct them towards the FAQ or towards another link
We are also more than open to suggestions....You want to see something in this Forum? Let us know!
We are trying to start a Rumor section, the idea was given to me by 7ruck. Hopefully it will be up and running soon...
Also, when I made the FAQ on the Unlocking suggestion, i made it a point for everyone to know that they could PM me without a problem. That I would answer and that I would help. We are here for you....we will help and try our best to guide you. Heck I do not know all the answers, but google is my best friend, isnt it?
If you come to my house, you will be treated as a guest. Just like if you come to Hackint0sh, I will do my best to treat you as one.
