This little $30 wonder works great in OSX for me. No stuttery sound, etc. Only has an output jack, so no good if you want to record, but otherwise a great & inexpensive way to get sound.

The Xear 3D EAX 2.0 USB Sound Adapter is reported to work well. Sound in and 5.1 sound out. Usually around $10 shipped from Hong Kong. Find them on eBay like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6889879279
