I want to show some suggestions to the Admin of this forum to improve the experience for newbies and help ease the frustation of members seeing the same old questions.

Feel free everyone to add any suggestions, and then I will pass the info to the admins, if they dont read it already.

And carlos, please dont give me any shit ;)

1) Improve visiblity of Stickys i.e increase font size, change font colour to red??? (suggested by other members)

2) Stop new members from posting for a week or so. (suggested by other members)

3) Get new members to agree (tick box) to read the stickys/guides first during registration

4) Allow searching for non-members (why is this common in forums? workload on servers?)

5) Have a pre-warning message before posting about reading sticky for members with under 5 posts

I dont know how flexible the forum backend system is?, and is it worth making changes?. I am truly intrested in helping both sides of members, the experienced and the not so much experienced.

I think the main problem here are not the newbies. Most of the shit are not in the initial posts but in the replies to newbie posts. Instead of just ignoring them, everyone seems to have the need to blame newbies... Moderators should instead block those self-styled moderators.

zahb:

You certainly have no idea what is to be moderator here and how much time it takes to clean the mess everyday.

When i say the mess, i mean all the useless posts, threads started by people that always have only 1 or 2 messages.
They ask question in the thread they create, but you can find the very same topic in 10 seconds by using search.
Why don't they ask inside the already created thread ?

The worst is when you have to rename/move/merge posts/threads because some guys are to lazy to think about a correct thread's name.

This forum contains answers for about 90% of new asked questions.

And no, we are not blaming newbies, we just try to show them that using tools that they have to their disposal can shorten their problem.

Now, i admit it, sometimes it is not easy, and some modo may sound rude, but you know, we are also just human.

An we have a life/work/other things to worry about. :)

Wrong. I'm one of the moderators of a swiss iPhone forum. And I exactly know how much effort is needed...

The problem is only a matter of size.

I don't think you have to deal with the same daily posts average. ;)

no need to change font more like change headings like

1.1.2 questions

1.1.1 questions

ringtone questions

theme questions

application questions

game questions

unlocking questions

ect would make the site a lot easier to navigate and easier to find what we looking for.:D

on my car forum, a newb can't start a new thread until he/she have 30 post...
so that way they are forced to : ask question in a existing thread, use search button

maybee this could be a good option...

Pretty funny to see people spending their time on something they hate, when others spend time on something they like. :D

Well

You can please some, but not everyone.

I do disagree with some of the stuff people reply to the new people, but I wrote about that here:

Well that is an interesting site to say the least. Looks like somebody needs a nap...lol While I do agree with some of the points made I also understand the frustration that staff has. It is kind of like 6 of one and half dozen of the other. Ya win some ya loose some. All I can say to the seemingly new site owner is good luck. Long live the original hackint0sh.

Knowing who is the owner of a domain name is a Punchinello's secret.

Sounds like he must have left the registration info public. Wonder if he did that for a specific reason?
