An Australian hacker that goes by the name of ozbimmer has managed to get his iPhone to make calls on the Australian network, Telstra. According to the report, the hacker managed to somehow create his own SIM card using information from an AT&T SIM and a Tesltra SIM. It is not an unlock, exactly, but the device is supposedly fully functional. Well, almost. Apparently it can neither send or receive SMS, nor can it receive calls, only place them.
The hacker released a short video of himself, demoing the hacked iPhone (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pubGSYatDIo).

please don't associate me with those people who make unsupported claims :)
i am like everyone here - to explore and test hypothesis... ultimate aim is to get the iphone be able to be used in every GSM network in the world :)

I read the ebay page.
(yes I can read chinese)
the person claim it's fully unlocked.
From the Q and A. lots of ppl ask about if it's really unlocked. the guy said you can use it with any gsm networking in HK.
after you reserve it, the phone will be in stock in 3-5 days.
People are asking for local pick up.
Lots of ppl say they don't believe it.
The guy said if you don't believe it, you can come look at the working sample in a week.
He will it next week.
Does seems like he's serious.
I wish I'm in HK now.

I'm in Hong Kong and have sent him an email asking to be contacted. No contact made as he had not called me. I think he is waiting for the dev team to do the work

Absolutely right. There is currently no unlock hack available but what is available instead is a lot of scam trying to profit from the iPhone hype.
Don't fall for it, save your money and stay tuned to this forum.
If you want to unlock your iPhone as fast as possible, PLEASE donate to the well known developer team, your money can make a difference and it will help everybody over here.
Read the sticky thread about donations. Thanks.

It is possibly a hoax, but knowing no hack available in your own knowledge doesnt really mean there isnt any unlocked device, in fact there are some seen in some apple employee's hands :)
What if it is not hoax?
The guy who buys it will be lucky, but how will it benefit to rest of the people here?
If the guys has a solution 100% sure wont tell you me or anyone here most likely..
In Apple employee hands its most likely those were devoces for in-house use. This is common along Vendors.
Such devices usally have no Lock and are for evaluation from through the staff and - yes to be used by employee.
Other offers so far we are aware of (and yes we are aware of many many many many rumors) are all no more than scam.
