Did you test it? Does it really work?

From what i read you have the same problems as with other card cloners.

If you got a V2 or V3 sim card, you can't clone it ( can't read the values from your sim ).

So, yes, it will most likely work... in V1 sim card's. ( as other solutions do )

Can I use the original AT&T sim to make it work with any sim card?
Or do you really need to clone the sim you're gonna use?

I am newbie on this matter, how do we actually know if our sim card is a V1?

Here in Europe you can check it quite easily.
If the card works with the high speed UMTS you know it's not version 1....

That's why I'm asking: does the Magicsim work when I "do" it with the AT&T sim from the States? (they don't have UMTS, so it must be a V1.).

Update: I ordered one of those magicsims and were going to try it out with an anxiously waiting member of our Dutch community at iphoneclub.nl. When the chip arrives we're gonna get started right away with a V3 sim. We'll let you know the results!

I've read the thread with the guide show how to create Sonic Sim. The software only work with Serial port SIM Card Reader & Writer but now I have a USB Sim Card Reader. My question is where can I buy a Serial port SIM Card reader & writer OR a cable/adapter from Female USB to Female Serial port?

Thank you. Any help would appreciated!

Has more people tried this method and able to confirm it works?

Does all the functions in the iPhone work? YouTube, Wi-Fi, Edge internet and voicemail etc?

I think you have to use 15th with a serial sim reader/writer, but someone mentioned it worked with a 16th and it should work with a usb reader/writer with the usb drivers mentioned above.

Hi

I could organise Magic SIM for CHF 25.-- (thats Swiss Francs). If you're interested i'll send you some Magic SIM's this week. If you want I also pack a USB SIM Card reader in it for another CHF 20.--. What ever you whish for ... (I would prefer not to ship internationaly)

I also haven't tried this solution since I have a old BL in my iPhone. I simply organise those SIM's for you and don't claim that those are working.

Only one person has actually confirmed that this method works. I'm not putting all my eggs in this basket yet.

And most companies want you to start using a V2 or V3 sim. Better chances of customers getting a Data Subscription.
Where I live Vodaphone announced they would replace sim cards last year for free, but after January it would cost(conversion of price would be around $25).
Most of the customers rushed to replace it!
And for the rest they announced that they will keep working but after a couple of years they would stop supporting them.
So I m not sure if you can still use a V1 here!

Does anyone know if AT&T and TMOBILE cards are v1 here in the US/NY? How to find out? Just go to provider and ask?

My SIM from Cingular (basically ATT) from about 4 years ago says 64k and all the V2, V3's are 64k, V1 is 32k. So if it says 32k your in luck!

hi guys,
i am writing from Istanbul Turkey.
i found that sims in satellite equipment sale shops.
it is 2$ in here.
i have the usb sim reader/writer but i could not get the KI number. our gsm operators uses comp128v2 sims since 2003 so it does not work in here..

also i tried hardware sim solution it is called "teneke sim" (aka magicsim) in here. it is 1.5$ in here.
i have the sim cutting hardware also.
but those hardware cards crashes usb sim reader.
all unlocking shops says that it is not possible to copy sims made after 2003..

i tried everything to get the KI , i tried brute force etc. but get nothing..

if anyone have sims made before 2003 (Turkcell and telsim) can contact me for help..

Firstly i couldnt care less which product you buy, or if you wait for a software unlock. BUT let me put this to rest once and for all. This WONT WORK and this is why...

ICC - This is the serial number of your sim card. Its used by the iphone for activation but NEVER sent to the network. You can set this to AT&T if you want, and it won't affect registration to the network. It is used for ACTIVATION purposes only in the Iphone and has nothing to do with the simlock.

IMSI - This is the number which identifies YOU as a customer to the network. This is what the network uses to figure out which customer you are. This cannot be sent differently to the network (i.e. sending an AT&T one won't work). This number prefixes your network code, and this is what the phone locks against.

Ki key - This is the secret key which matches your IMSI. This is used to make sure you are who you say you are. if you say your IMSI is 1234567890, the network will verify this by asking you to encrypt a random number with your Ki. Half of this encrypted number gets sent to the network, where they encrypt the same number and check if they match. So if your IMSI and Ki do not match theirs you won't get network. The Ki cannot be read easily. You can read it in 8 hours on very old SIM cards, but not new ones. Also be warned on new sim cards they kill themselves after a few thousand Ki read attempts. (the scanner will do a few hundred thousand attempts).

Kc - The other half of the number above becomes your Kc. This key is used temporarily (hours, days, weeks) so your not sending Ki information all the time. You can read this easily from any sim card. BUT every time you reboot your phone from cold, or after ever x calls or days (depending on network) this number is regenerated from your Ki.

Conclusion:
- Changing just the ICC will not work - it won't get you past the lock
- Changing IMSI will prevent you logging onto your network, it may get you past the lock (and may even get you a signal because the Ki check wasnt done yet) but it won't let you make any calls, because that triggers a Ki check and kicks you off the network.
- These sim proxy's or whatever you want to call them, switch the IMSI, but in a way that its sent to the network properly. This product cannot do that.

This is at beast a hoax, and at worst some idiot trying to waste everyone's time and money. You may see a utube video showing it get reception, but it means nothing untill a ki check is done (you make/receive a call).

Please stop wasting your money and buying these readers. It WONT WORK! if it did, don't you think this thread would be full of people saying how it works great, instead of people going on about which reader to buy.
